Re: The Cafe Sportster Project

Harley sporties that are a few years old can be had for real cheap if you look around.

The old tube frame Buells are even cheaper, and, depending on which one you choose they have a lot of the motor hop-up done from the factory.

Road thing,
You are correct Sir, Buells have most of the goodies you are looking for, pretty decent front ends, brakes and shocks.

Re: The Cafe Sportster Project

Tube frame buells are ugh IMHO. I much prefered my Aluminum framed XB's.

Harley used to sell a "buell" engine kit you could bolt right onto your 883 for somewhere around $1400. Came with Buell heads, cams, cylinders, and pistons and promised 100HP to the wheel... Oh and the '09 nightster i just picked up not long ago for a bobber build cost me under $3k...

Good start to the build btw.

Beauty is, of course, in the eye of the beholder, but I always liked the look of my old S-1. It lives in Huntsville now.

Re: The Cafe Sportster Project

Not to get to off topic but the best buell i had was the 2007 XB9SX CityX model with Micron exhaust, clear tank cover, progressive shift light, Pazzo levers, etc. All for $3k back in '09
