Is it hot in Big Bend-a ride report?

Sam (Greenegssandham) used to ride a lot, he might know too.

Totally enjoying this report! Makes me sit back, close my eyes, and memories of my travels though these areas. Especially my first time in '64 driving my newly bought '54 Ford back to Long Beach, Ca to my ship where I was serving with the Marine Detachment on the USS Oklahoma City heavy cruiser.
Many thanks and Simper Fi

Love seeing the stuff about Big Bend and Carlsbad! My mom, sister and I moved there in '76, we were there a couple of years before moving back to Texas. Got my first motorcycle while there and spent my saved up lunch money on riding the trails from the Flumes to Lake Avalon! And when the drained the canal, instant half-pipe, good times indeed!:rider:

Very well done write-up! I am wanting to take a motorbike trip next June. Big Bend is on my destination list...it is even higher on my list after reading your thread!
Thanks for the excellent pictures

Thanks humanrace for the excellent write up and pics. I was there five or six years ago with a buddy, can't remember if it was spring or fall. We just rode the asphalt. Makes me wanna go back and get off road. Three things I remember - the scenery, the heat and the ridiculously slow speed limits in the park. Good times though!

I hope you enjoyed my post. I know that I got a little windy with my “autobiography,” but memories flooded back to me as I viewed thing in Carlsbad and Loving. I wanted to share them with more than my wife.

The autobiography stuff and stories are what really makes this report stand out, so don't apologize for it ;-) But now you have me wondering about the church... :ponder:

Thanks for sharing!

Our Billy's group will be there in less than two weeks.

It's a Loving Assembly of God. I loved the whole report, great work!

Thanks all. I'm already planning a return trip to New Mexico next year.

Great ride report--thank you for sharing that! The rattlesnake you saw is a blacktail rattlesnake (Crotalus ornatus), and their coloration can be quite variable throughout their range.

"Buildings built by the CCC and WPA during the depression. These two organizations were some of the most successful socialist projects ever. Their work gave us numerous flood control projects, state parks and many national projects. Blue Ridge Parkway was another of their projects. Part of the New Deal, the training gained in the CCC and WPA allowed our country to prosper after WWII to the point where we were the envy of the rest of the world for more than 30 years."

Totally agree with you. These projects can be found all over our country. North Florida has a handful of CCC and WPA parks that are beautiful, hidden gems.

Thanks again for the report.

Very much enjoyed the great trip report. Thanks.
