US Motorcyclist Missing In Mexico

Hmmm...that 1-1/2 hr escort he got might have been a planned detour instead. Sounds like he got duped. Also wondering why the French embassy got involved?

Yep, dual citizenship. US and French. Hope he is okay and pops up soon. I remember a young guy on ADVrider that disappeared for about the same amount of time in Panama. Turns out he had a last second chance to hop a boat to get to Columbia and then the boat had an issue so he was out of communications reach for a while. Hopefully a similar issue is up with him. Stuck somewhere with no way to communicate.

Read the CNN article;

"So tomorrow I'm going to go to the DMV, get my motorcycle permit, buy a bike and hopefully figure out how to ride it home without crashing."

"...spent hours studying YouTube videos on how to survive falls from bikes"

And there's a lot more references to a decidedly risky lifestyle, hey not judging but everyone on ADVRider is assuming the worst of Mexico, myself I can't understand why are they so sure the poor soul's not just in a ditch somewhere?

Paging Tricepilot to the soapbox...

Based on the little I have seen, he was very unprepared for adventure riding in Mexico and beyond. He ventured into portions of Mexico that had large amounts of active kidnapping, extortion and violent clashes between rival gangs circa Michoacan and Guerrero - without a SPOT tracker among other things.

This is NOT the place to start a debate about riding in Mexico. Keep that in the other thread.
