It's Tet holiday (lunar new year holiday) so we have about one week off, we went to Dalat for some days.
Dalat is highland city, it's approx 300km from Hochiminh City, at North Eastern of Vietnam. There are many mountains, covered by flowers, strawberry, vegetable farms, pine trees etc...
During Tet holiday, it 's quite crowded, so we heading there deep in the jungle.
We passed the City center, went further about 20km to find some silent places.

Coming to Dalat, I have no reason to leave my son and my dirtbike at home. So that's why:

Got a nice lunch nearby the city:

Then we went for a little offroad. A local friend showed us a very nice mount, which we can climb by our car, and we can have good view from there.

Here we go:

It looks like you are having fun during the Tet holiday. The dual-sporting looks amazing. I wish I was there.

Tnx for posting the pics and showing us more of Vietnam.

The Italian foodie in me would also like to ask, what is that delicious food you photogrargphed for us? :eat3::eat3::eat3: Even the one hidden by the Aluminium foil.

Great, thanks for sharing the adventure.

We had a guide in Moab tell us the Samurai is one serious 4WD and is very under rated.

Love the pictures. From the pine trees to the barbecue to the traffic, it looks a lot like east Texas.

Your rides are always well documented, but on this one it looks like you hired a photographer!

I also want to know about the meat, looks fantastic!

If the trees were closer packed, it would look like many places in East Texas...

Where are the riding pics? :-P

I don't know if it is Italian food. They made by a Vietnamese lady and an American guy living in Dalat. We had Pizza, Dalat salad, pork rib, and chicken inside the alu foil. :eat:
Those pix taken by an iPhone of my friend. I was starvation so have no energy to take pix but eating.

Great pics. Thanks for sharing them.
Quite numbers of them in Vietnam offroad team. This is one of them, and have been replaced with another engine, 2.2L turbo. D@mn, small, light weight, but really strong.

Love the pictures. From the pine trees to the barbecue to the traffic, it looks a lot like east Texas.

:) Weather there is pretty cool as well. Normally btw the range of 12-24 deg C. Excellent for everything, especially eating, riding and m@king love :eat:

We got outside of the City, approx 20km from it, then went all the way offroad to a friend's place.
It's really nice place. He started it for about 5 years, from nothing. And now he has all facilities set up, with some bungalow, nice grass, water and power supply.

We started with the tent:

Done breakfast with coffee, local friend lead us out for an offroad ride.
There are some 4x4 cars joined us from the City.

Dirtbikes went faster than the cars pretty far, so we were not in the frame.

Nothing much I have for the riding part, as it was so wonderful !!! We just know to ride and ride.... nothing else. It's my and my son's first enduro ride ever. Awesome feeling I would say.

My boy did really good, which I could not imagine. He got sometimes laid down his bike, nothing serious. His balancing has been improved a lot. We rode along the trail with quite stiff hill side, and I was quite scary, afraid that if he may sometimes put too much gas, then would be a really drama...
The tricky parts were on the trail with 4wheelers tire-tracks (well, don't know if I use correct word or not). There are two long and deep ditches created by the 4 wheelers tires, and the hump at the middle, they are pretty narrow. Luckily, my son made it well.

Thanks for the pictures. That is not what I expected Vietnam to look like at all. Reminds of Northern Arizona. Very cool.

Yup. Check out this red neck mud bogging video. Plenty of high rise, high horsepower rigs can't power through the mud but the little 85 hp Samurai just slowly chugs right to the end. Jump to 23:59 if you're not interested in the beer drinking and bikinis. Lightweight equals better flotation which appears to be an advantage over 500 hp propulsion.

Saw the samurai made it to the the other side of the mud hole, slowly, slowly and float like a boat. :D (at minutes 24)
Thanks Dave.
