Not yet. I talked to Uncle this morning and he says the road crews have started working on it, but it's not open yet. Maybe they will have it re-opened by the time we get out there.

Re: Big Bend - a guide for all motorcyclists

Update 2:

Uncle called a little while ago and River Road is unofficially open. 2 riders rode it yesterday and the barriers and "road closed" signs are gone. The road has been grated and is in good shape. Uncles says once the Park Superintendent drives the road personally and says its okay that the road will then be officially open.

From the NPS daily report for today.

"The Santa Elena Canyon Trail and River Road West are now open. River Road West is 4WD recommended."

3 1/2.

Three d/s routes are completely outside the park. One route includes both riding inside and outside the park

Re: Big Bend - a guide for all motorcyclists

Got mine today. Looks good, well put together and lots of useful information. Thanks Richard.

It's got me looking forward to the "non-event", I REALLY need to get out of town!

I just realized that the last vacation I took (last summer) was...dual sport riding in Big Bend! I guess I know what I like.

Re: Big Bend - a guide for all motorcyclists

Richard, sent paypal for Big Bend - a guide for all motorcyclists. I hope I can get it before I leave to Big Bend next Thursday. Sorry I was so late ordering it, I just logged in Monday and didn't find the thread to the guide until last night. I look forward to meeting you and other TWT members at Uncles.
