Re: 3rd Annual Around the Bend

As usual in these things, well over 100 riders but you only see groups at Kathy's for breakfast or at one of the dinner spots, so I can't take a poll. Ralph the mechanic is selling me another rear tube for a spare and he'll run in some Ride On for me.

I'm running 170 to Ojinaga MX today, more dirt maņana.

Next trip to BB I'll be taking more than 1 spare set of tubes, plus I'll have a PhD in tire/tube science.

Buena suerte

Not gonna make it...

I'm not going to make it to the ride this weekend. The wife has been summoned to Tuscon for work. I'll be tending the home fires with the 8 year old daughter this weekend instead. You know how fast they grow up, I'll wake up tomorrow and she'll be 16 asking for the keys to the car Better take the time while I can....it only comes around once!

I have a buddy coming down from May 12-thru May 26. We are planning a trip down there then anyway. If any of you guys get a wild hair, come ride with us in May. Ride safe and have a great time! I'll do my best to make it next year.

Cheers!!!!

Jeff

P.S.. Richard: Please let me know how much it will cost to ship me the two t-shirts that I ordered.

True! Hey, Big Bend's been there for years and its not going anywhere soon, so you've made the right call and have the good attitude. Maybe when she's 16 she'll be riding BB with you.

Re: 3rd Annual Around the Bend

Typing this on my iPhone from Terlingua so this will be short...I ran up 170 to Presidio/Ojinaga, went to the zocalo for some pollo empanizado, sat around this border town, chatting up the locals...back on the bike towards Chihuahua, stopped at barranca Peguis, did the Chevy Chase head nod, then back to Presidio (where I set off the radiation detector at the border I am not kidding) and am reporting this from the Starlight in Terlingua ghost town....ps drank a gallon of te helado in Ojinaga - it's good for your digestion....pics Sunday or Monday.

Re: 3rd Annual Around the Bend

made it home after 5 days of riding , Thurs joined TJs group (Bob, Jeff, TJ, Andrew) and went back to BBRSP and rode Oso Loop and then back to the "Rode to nowhere"

Friday, Ken on his KTM 450 joined us for River Road, Black Gap, and Old Ore, and we saw a solo KTM 990 rider on Black Gap, as Andrew said he was carrying as much stuff as all of us put together

happy trails my friends, had no slime in the tires and did not get a flat, and only a few little mishaps with no video or photos as evidence

here are a few more from the State Park, actually Hugo took these but im stealing them ...

thanks, just a few miles west of Saucedo on the main road at Big Bend Ranch State Park google

the Bunkhouse has $25 per night beds, serves food, has leather sofas, WIFI, a 50" LCD TV, microwave, etc; so im not exactly an "adventure rider"

Re: 3rd Annual Around the Bend

This was my first time at the "Annual Around the Bend" ride but I have to tell you it won't be my last, I am already making plans for next year. I would like to thank Roger (Uncle), Richard and everyone else for taking the time to put on such a great event.
From hanging out on the porch telling lies, to breakfast at Kathy's, to Just hanging out talking with Roger, to The show at the Theatre I really got to experience Terlingua. And it was GREAT !!!!
And for everyone that didn't make it the the Last Minute Low Budget Productions of "Fuddy Mears" you missed one of the highlights of the trip.

Re: 3rd Annual Around the Bend

Made it back to Houston! Got plenty pics and stories... on our adventure I ruined my wallet, iphone and even freed Tricepilot from the clutches of Chupakapra. It's late I'm going to eat and go to bed

Re: 3rd Annual Around the Bend

Back in Forida as of Thursday night. Had a GREAT time in Terlingua. The rideing was a lot different that here, I had to drive 1500 miles to see a rock. Enjoyed the beer and conversation also. Richard, "you done good boy". Thanks again everyone.

Re: 3rd Annual Around the Bend

I am in the Jacksonville area. Most Floridians consider the northern part of the state really South Georgia, not North Florida. Our best dual sport areas are the Ocala National forest and the Osceola nationl forest.
