Many steering head lower bearings are also ruined by putting the vent hose in the center hole of the triples. And the resultant rust/pitting ruins the race which ain't easy to replace. All unneccessary.

Excuse the heck out of the dirty bike, but I wouldn’t run my chain any tighter than this. This is up on the stand with the rear wheel off the ground.
I adjusted it to 58mm of slack, should be good to go now. It was at 53.5mm prior.
A chain that is a little loose is of zero concern. A chain that is too tight causes damage every moment it is in motion.
Well too loose can lead to excessive wear on the sprocket but I'd much rather be replacing that than counter sprocket shaft seals.
