This oddball excursion is perfect for scooter afficionados, small bore enthusiasts, and Navi lovers who also love Mexico and Adventure.

Summary:

Thursday March 23rd: This adventure begins in Houson, IAH,on March 23rd at 9:45. Two flights (short layover in Monterrey) get us to Oaxaca Mexico at around 4:15pm. We'll cab it to the city and settle in our Hostel in downtown Oaxaca. Thursday night we'll have a night out. Nice dinner (Oaxaca is a renowned culinary destination), maybe some rooftop patios. Expect 88 / 53 degrees with 1 day of rain expected per month.

Friday 24th: walk to coffee and the scooter rental shop. WS175 italika fat tire scooters run about $30 a day. These 55 mph beasty scooters are fully automatic dual sports. Capable in turns, quick accelerating, and solid braking.

Or, you can buy any small bore scooter $1200, moto $1000 - $2000, navi $1500, etc... from a local dealer and expect 80% trade in value at exit of trip.

We'l head 89 miles to San Jose del Pacifico for an overnight in the (legal) mushroom capital of Mexico. Log cabins high in the mountains. The road is sublime. Twisty 2 lane. Best of the best. You'll be hard pressed to hit top speed.

Saturday 25th: We'll continue the mountain path 73 beautiful twisty miles to Zipolite, Mexico's only clothing optional beach. Another 4 miles of coastal jungly road takes you to Mazunte, a beautiful hippy style thatched roof town that is 100% charming in every way.

Saturday 25th to Sunday 1st we will play it 100% by ear. So many beachbtowns, surfing, beachfront cafes, quaint breakfasts on swings, surfing, scootering, etc... We'll need to be back at our hostel in Oaxaca by end of Sunday.

Monday, April 3rd: Afternoon flight from Oaxaca to Monterrey. Late afternoon arrival. We will Uber to Macroplaza and spend the night at Casa del Barrio hostel in the antique district. Expect a fancy meal, riverboat cruise (same as san antonio) and a night on the town in the colonial fun district, Barrio Antigua.

Tuesday April 4th: Depart Monterrey at 6:20 AM for direct flight to Houston IAH

Airfare expect $350. Scooter $250. Airbnb or Hostal $40 to $60 per bed per day.

Anyone interested should plan to book ASAP because airfare is currently cheap. If interested, sign up here and you'll be added to the group to coordinate.

Registration:

Registration / coordination fee is $25 for strangers, free for previous Mextrek Amigos, lol

Rut roh, I only have a Passport Card, which I understand is insufficient for air travel Texas to Mexico. :-?

HOW DO YOU PACK FOR SUCH AN ADVENTURE? I'VE RODE IN MANY TIMES BUT NEVER FLEW IN ANYWHERE. CARRYING CLOTHES AND RIDING GEAR ON THE PLANE.

I LOVED the idea of this one.... just didn't line up with the rest of my life to allow it to happen..
