Yamaha Pulls the Plug on Dakar

That's a shame. Hate to see less competition in any series.
 
Looks like they are just seeing a change in customer demographics and are focusing their attention in that 4-wheel arena.
 
Actually they're only pulling out of the bike class focusing on the SSVs. Which shows you where the powersports industry is heading?

I'm not arguing that driving an SSV at race pace requires dedication, training and talent but for most purchasers you can hop in & head off into the woods with no experience whatsoever. Certainly watching that class at the Baja Rally was an interesting experience shall we say. Dirt bikes are not so forgiving and require an investment of time to exploit, something I think people are increasingly unwilling to give.
