Austin to Alaska ... July 2014

In coal Creek. This is my flower sniffing day. Only 600 miles. The scenery and wildlife is amazing.

Little bit of rain coming through the alcan today. Had to do some chain maintenance along the way. Lots of bear, buffalo and moose along the road. 2 grizzlies.

British Columbia is beyond beautiful. I simply cannot find the words.

If you're wondering what a good part of the alcan itself looks like. Here's a nice piece coming into Watson lake. Lots of gravel patch and loose stuff. But overall pretty good.

Those roads love to eat rubber. Just seems to disappear from my rear tire.

Amen -- That stuff on the Alcan makes Texas chip seal feel like virgin asphalt.

Great Ride, Pics and Ride Report, Brian! Thanks for letting us tag along!

Heading to Fairbanks to put on new tires and change oil. Going to need to diagnose a new noise on the wee... Started a pulsing wirring on me the last 100 miles or so yesterday. Chain is also stretching a alignment mark a day.

I had over 3/16 left when I started the alcan. Barely hanging a fingernail now

The 20miles before beaver Creek are tore up so bad you have to follow an escort vehicle

Great job and thanks for letting those of us stuck in the office to tag along on your ride! Alaska is an awesome place in so many ways, enjoy what you can!

Escort vehicles are pretty common in Alaska construction zones. You'll probably encounter a few more. Looks like it's been a great trip so far.

My Dad's in Fairbanks getting the chain and rear sprocket replaced on his Vstrom today. Best of luck on your trip up the Dalton... enjoying the photo's and checkins a long the way!
