I have finally completed the ride report on our journey. It was an amazing 11 days and we really enjoyed our 3072 miles. I am not going to re write what I have put on the blog. However I will put a little summary with pictures and links for those of you that want to read more. Thanks again to all of you that have followed our journey.

Day 1 - The trip has finally started
My trip has finally started. I left work early and was on the road around 11:30. It was only 85 degrees when I left so not too bad. It did climb later in the day as I saw the temp gauge record a 99. It was hot but not horrible. I am also getting some good gas mileage, almost 44 mpg. All at speeds of 70-80mph
I rode for an hour or so and took a break so I never really got very tired. I logged 430 miles today. The Versys was strong and seems to be getting better with every mile. She rolled over 7100 today.

Day 2 - Hello NM - Performance awards are not good.
My first day on vacation and I was up at 5:30am. I could not sleep any longer. I knew twisty roads and cooler temps were in my future. I woke up from my $39 hotel room and walked down the hall to freshly brewed coffee. Hey for $39 what did you a expect a flatscreen and coffee maker? I would stay there again. Good clean and cheap room. If you are ever in Tucumcari and need a place to stay, try the Motel 6.
I jumped on the Versys to do the last 90 miles of slab for a few days. It was 55 degrees when I left. I actually had to stop and put in my liner. I arrived in Las Vegas for breakfast at Charlie's spic n span right at 8:15.

Day 3 - Red River NM - Family Reunion.
My wife's family has been attending an annual reunion in Red River New Mexico for over 30 years. I am proud to have been included for the past 10 years. Its a great event and a nice time to exhale and enjoy the family away from the pressures of home.

Day 4 - Colorado here we come!
Today was the day that Jamie and I had been waiting for. It is always nice to spend time with the family and we enjoy our weekend in Red River, but now it was our time. Just the two of us. It is a time for us to connect and to remind ourselves why we love each other so much. I look forward to this trip every year. Expectations were high and I knew we would not be disappointed.

Day 5 - A visit to Black Canyon - Crested Butte
We enjoyed a nice and chilly evening in our REI half dome tent. The temps were in the low 40's when we awoke on this glorious Monday morning. We were reminded how nice the fresh air smells on a cool mountain morning. We took our time getting up and going, enjoying not having to go to work and be on a schedule. We headed over to the Bean in Gunnison for some breakfast and a nice cup of coffee.

Day 6 - Passing Time with good friends
I don't know how many of you remember the movie "Ground Hog Day" but the premise is the person wakes up and does the dame thing every single day. I could really go for that. Waking up in cool temps in the beautiful state of Colorado with plans to ride all day with my soul mate sounds like a great way to spend the rest of my life.

Day 7 - Rocky Mountain National Park - WOW!
Each day of our journey left us with memories that will will take with us for many years to come. Today was no different. Liz made us a fantastic breakfast before we set off to ride the Rim road of the RMNP. If you have not had the chance to visit the park, it must be added to your bucket list. The views are pure Colorado. Breath taking, Grand and my words or pictures do not even come close to describing how amazing this place is. Trust me it is a place to be seen.

Day 8 - Pike Peak & New found treasures
Waking up at our friends house in Evergreen is always a great way to start the day. We got up and packed up pretty early. We said bye to Spootz (Pete & Vebeke's dog). We road out and had breakfast at Aspen Perk in Conifer Colorado. It was a nice little place. The food was good and the coffee was just what the doctor ordered.

Day 9 - Albuquerque bound
We woke up again to a cool morning and the birds singing. We packed up camp and was sitting in the Bean in less than an hour of getting up. Jamie and I have a great system for packing up camp. She gets all of the sleeping bags together and then we clear out the tent and pull her down and BAM we are done and ready for coffee. We make an excellent team.

Day 10 - Chillin in the Q - Wedding day!
Sitting on the back porch at my in laws house is always a highlight for me on these trips. Its so peaceful and the coffee tastes so good. Today was going to be an easy day for me. I was meeting some friends for breakfast, then I was going to take the rest of the morning visiting bike shops. I then thought I would come back to the house and wash my bike. It was so dirty from all of the rain in Colorado. Then I would take it easy before the wedding. Jamie on the other hand was going to have a busy day, she was trying to help her mom and aunt in getting the final wedding things together. That meant I would be solo today.

Day 11 - Back to reality
The alarm went off at 6am. I thought after a late evening I would be dragging. This was not the case. I finished packing up the bike and was ready to roll. Before I hot the road Jamie and I wanted to attend the Sunday breakfast with the Land of Enchantment BMW riders. They meet every Sunday at a great little restaurant named Millys. This was another good chance to get some authentic NM cuisine before heading back top the home of no chili and Tex Mex.
