Sarah and I met up with Ouroboros for the ride down. It was a mix of dirt and pavement. Most of it quite fun. Grab a drink and get comfy. I took a lot of pics
I'll just go ahead and apologize now for the names I've forgotten even after you told them to me. I've slept since then
Feel free to quote a pic of yourself and clue me in

I remember doing the same thing until I got my first GPS
This is what happens when Sarah gets her hands on my camera...
While Sarah was playing with the camera, I set about trying to figure out a general route home. We weren't in a hurry so it was time to explore. We headed out of town toward New Ulm. I tried exploring some dirt roads not far out of Sealy. It was a fun road covered with large reddish gravel. We hit a few dead ends and eventually had to drop back out on the FM heading into New Ulm. From there we started making a roundabout loop over to Round Top on some more gravel roads. That was a mistake!! Round Top was CROWDED!!! I was starting to need gas and Dave said his GPS showed a Valero South of town a mile or two. It took a while to get there... only to find out it is no longer in business. I decided to keep heading South rather than fight back through the crawling traffic. Once clear, we headed West a little bit before jumping on some of those narrow paved county roads to loop back North of Round Top and head toward Burton.
We stopped in Burton for gas and a break, then ran FM 390 over to William Penn Rd. The flowers really aren't blooming great yet. Maybe another week or so and they should be great. Once on William Penn, I made a slight diversion before we reached Hwy 105 that took us further North. I set a MOB marker on the GPS for one home. In a week or so, their front pasture between the house and lake will be spectacular. Hopefully, I will be able to get back out there for some photos before the flowers fade. Once back on Hwy 105, we headed on into Navasota and then picked up a dirt road that runs along the river North to FM 3090 just North of where FM 149 dead ends. We then ran 149 all the way back to Richards where we stopped for a break at Drifters.
I might not like riding cruisers, but Harley sure knows how to do paint right!
These guys rolled in a few minutes after us, George and Derrick (Derrin?).
That's the two Triumph guys standing on the seat
Cool Goldwing Trike ridden by a couple. Didn't meet them though.
There was Snoopy stuff all over the bike
Yeah, I really like the color on this one so I got another shot after the silver bike was gone.

Note the rear tire. It is a Metzler Karoo 3. I just replaced the worn out TKC 80 last Thursday so Friday and Saturday were the first rides with it. I have to say that my first impression is good. I rode it in packed gravel, sand, loose gravel, pavement, deep sand, and even fresh grass clippings on pavement... It grips well and hooked up nice in the loose stuff. It has an interesting tone at speed on pavement, not annoying, just different than the TKCs. I am hoping it will last a bit longer than the TKCs, which I usually get maybe 2500-3000 miles out of on the rear. It would be nice if it lasted as long as the front TKC (4000-4500 miles) because they work well together.
Ian took off for home a few minutes before Sarah and I said goodbye to Dave. He was going to hang out a little longer. We headed up the road and hung a left on Bays Chapel Rd. We ran it out to Hoke Rd., and then kept going East on Pool Rd., to FM 3179. From there it was a quick run up FM 1791 with a short stop at the San Jacinto River bottoms for some more flower pics before heading home. 323 miles on the day, the longest yet for Sarah. She did great!
I love the sweet smell of these. I think they are Spider Lillies?
There were a lot of other folks at the Pie Run that sat in a different area than us. By the time I was up taking pictures, they had already cleared out and left. I think they were going to another location. Snoopster, Rainmaker and Jar675 were in that group.
It was a good weekend for me. I was off work Friday and was able to take Daniel for about a 200 mile ride out to Brenham and back. We did a fun mix of dirt and pavement while looking for flowers. We had lunch at Must Be Heaven in Brenham and then wandered home. He's good for maybe 200 miles and then he's ready to be off the bike for they day. Sitting still for that long is hard for him
I'll post up a short report on that tomorrow.
