Scott and Julie Stevenson are first rate people. Adv rider launched their business. PIc tomorrow.

This would be a great place to hold an adv or dual sport gathering.

Jealous. Glad you're having fun. 3 Step definitely looks like a cool place to visit and stay a while.

Where was I???,

We left Scott and Julie’s place at 3 step, Ist 3 step these folks showed up for the night, i was going to ride the tat with these folks up to Moab

That is Verla and Zack, very cool people. They started the tat where they left off last year at Trinidad co. Zack had to do some work on the 650xl. I had to meet a client for lunch in Rifle Co.

We (me on the twin and Kyle in his 4x4 Nissan) planned to ride the Columbine pass but it was closed due to a fire.

Ride a don’t miss ride from La Sal Utah to grand junction (see spot tracking). Beautiful.

In La Sal we became part of a cattle drive

If you need tires Scott had tons from the tat riders who switched at his place, many are half used.

After lunch in rifle we camped south of Kremlin Co at a BLM campground.

We had a camp site by a flowing creek,

We cooked chicken breasts and backed potatoes with charcoal (no pic).

There was a sign posted there was a bear in the area.

At 2:30 Am I heard branches crushing and breaking, I jumped out of my hammock because it was coming right behind me; I said shoo bear then I found the culprit:

A raccoon!

The camp site for a off a 30 mile dirt road by the Colorado river.

Stopped at Kremmling Co, I had a valve stem issue I fixed by cleaning.

We went to Walden co and had lunch. Due to potential rain we ride back roads to Thermopolis Wy, about 400 miles. All day it was between 40 degrees and 85.

We were going to camp at Hot Springs state park. Hit a massive storm 5 miles from Thermopolis. No camping at the park, so we got a cheap motel, Camelot motel, $73 for the night.

Our view from porch:

Well, it is time to catch up, I am in Sturgis for the week since yesterday Sunday.

While at 3 step, we met some Tat riders, Zack and Valera, Zack was her guide. Zack just got his nursing degree at 23 yrs old. He is the future of Adv riding. Valera owns some radio stations. She was on a dr650. Hr on 2003 xr650!

#82 is on the way to Walden from Eagle Colorado.

After we left 3 step, went north to La Sal Utah. 1 mile out of La Sal we encountered a cattle drive:

I helped push the cattle, the cowboys were on atvs. Lots of fun! Yeehaw!

Took the road to Naturita then 141 to Grand Junction, I had a client lunch in Rifle Co. I wanted to cross Columbine pass but road closed due to fire.

#111 was the best campsite I ever had. It was Medicine Mound Archaeology Site. Cost $11!

Each campsite had grass sprinklers built in, we could walk on bare feet because it was like carpet. The campsite is north of ten sleep wy.

Kyle and I got there about 2pm and enjoyed the beauty.

I am loving my hammock stand. I moved it around the camp site 3 times.

Wind shifted directions, I got smoked out

Then it rained for 5 minutes, had to attach rain fly

Is that hammock stand as stable as a couple large trees?

Mentally...I understand the physics of how it works, but emotionally....I don't know if I can trust it enough to get good sleep if I used it.

Also...how big is it once it's folded up? Looks like maybe about the size of 2 bags of tent poles. Is that about right?

The stand takes some experience, but it is super stable, packs up in my duffle, 8 poles about 2.5’ and 4x4”. I have spent the past two weeks using it. I leave Sturgis tomorrow. Will continue the report when I get home.

Sharing a campsite on the north platte river with Darren and Jag . It got dark before I hit Alma Nebraska.
