Not sure if there is an existing thread like this. We’ve all been there. Whether a questionable purchase, over indulging whatever, a certain “love” interest. We have all done something(s) that could be construed dubious.
I’ll start. I had the brilliant idea yesterday that today would be a good day at 46 years old to do my first TORCS race at Rusty’s near Bastrop. It poured last night so I could have used that as an excuse to back out of my hastily conceived plan. Sheeeet show anyone? I got the start time wrong for the 40+ C group, so I “wisely” rushed to the registration desk and changed my entry to 40+ B. I used to race mountain bikes at an expert level so I thought it would be fine. I’m sure by now it’s obvious where this is going. Well, I finished. I got 3rd place! Weeeell, that is out of 4 who started in my group. I’m going to way over simplify my hour of sheeeet show feelings and say it was fun. Woohoo.
Just showed up. I should have polished the bike up. Everyone knows a clean bike is faster.
My artfully applied racer numbers that I had just been handed.
I even remembered my GoPro.
I got super squirrely about 5 minutes into the first lap and thought I just started sucking worse. I’m pretty sure that is when my front tire first went flat. Ask me why I didn’t even consider checking my front tire. I did. When I pulled up to my Land Cruiser at the end of the race, after feeling like I rode 3-1/2 laps with a block of ice as a front tire.
Oh yeah, did I mention there was a bit of mud?
I’ll consider adding video. It’s not pretty. The audio will require serious redactions.
