Off to Deadwood

Well left at O dark early, trying to get away from rush hour and the heat. Did ok on one but the heat caught up to us

Ate b-fast in Eastland at Louise's Cafe, had a great breakfast sandwich (no pic I ate it before I thought about it)

Dodged a few pop up T-storms, but collected a few drops

Arrived at the hotel with about 580 miles. The hotel is almost like it would have been in 1963, very cool. Some where I lost an hour though

Day 2 was another fine morning, stopped and took in the view looking back where we came from.

The afternoon riding was filled by dodging T-storms, very cool when the road turns the way you need it to go, we still received a few drips before checking in for the night.

We had stopped at a Point of Interest, it's about a ditch!

Day 3 was a fine day, no rain and an early threat that vanished.

The first pass of the trip was Poncha Pass, the wind felt like it was blowing 40 mph

Wound through the southern part of CO to Copper Mountain, the most expensive fuel of the trip, $4.47/gal.

Continued north on CO 9, CO 125 & CO 127, all very nice roads & Fun!

Good food at Moosecreek

Day 4 we stopped in the HD in Cheyenne, for a bit, before continuing on to Deadwood.

Some isolated places in WY, you might never be found out here

When we arrived, beat the rain, there were some already here for SharkWeek IX and found we have a room with a view.

Out and Around

For the next 4 days we rode around the area and enjoyed the different views than we see at home :thumb:

Pics of Sturgis, pup trailer, Devils Tower and prairie dogs. There wasn't enough time to ride all the great roads and see all that is in the area, just means another trip in the future.....

Return Home

Well the party is over and we left in perfect weather.

Went through the Wind Cave National park and saw buffalo, from a distance.

Stopped in Alliance, NE to see Carhenge, an interesting place that he's created.

Spent the night in Broken Bow, NE and listened to the rain and lightening. Awoke to fog, it cleared about 50 miles down the road.

Found the Geographic Center of the Lower 48 outside of Lebanon, KS. FYI, interesting if you search this subject, there are multiple points that claim this point, most all in KS

We stopped at my Grandmother's old house just to see how it looks almost 40 years after they sold it (they might be disappointed). Little town hasn't changed much since the last time I was here, other than getting smaller.

Layed over in Park City, KS and awoke to rain and lightening, waited a couple hours and drove into a headwind all the way home.

It was a blast and enjoyed another SharkWeek, but glad to be home.

Great report & pics. I hope to make the trip to Sturgis one day.

Great photo of your grandma's house... definitely looks the period in time with that small town charm.

Looks like a Blast! It was a paltry 103 here in the Dallas area today. You have no idea what you missed!

I definitely knew the temp here, every call home was a temperature discussion :trust:
I also returned to those temps :-(
