Left Austin 8:30 heading east on FM roads in search of BBQ. Made our way out through the morning fog to Lexington and stopped in at Snow's. Finished lunch and saw that we picked up a BMW friend parked next to us.
Took FM 112 north towards Taylor and found an amazing church out in the middle of fields so we had to stop and take a peek.

I did a nice day ride yesterday. Out of the house about 8am, cool and actually misty and rainy as I went further west. Had a GREAT pile of Huevos Rancheros in Center Point. The traffic from Bandera to Bourne was slow - I switched plans instead of staying on 46 and headed up towards Sisterdale a little earlier than the map shows.
It had been a while since doing a full day on the bike. Too long. It was great to not have much of an agenda or timeline and just roll around central Texas. I love squiggly blue lines!!

Me and Ron Stromer on the way to meet Mitchntx in Talihina yesterday. Ended up in Clarksville Ark. On the way to Peel Ferry today. More to follow

Did a bit of off-roading, we are on R1200GS's after all. Pretty windy on the Peel Ferry across Bull Shoals lake. Ron Stromer in the lead.
Quite a bit of zoom for a cell phone, but that's a bald eagle sitting in the tree. We scared him away from the coon we was eating on AR 80 in the Ouachita National Forest east of Waldron. The buzzards weren't giving him any static.

We've been seeing a lot of Bald Eagles here in SE Texas the last few years. Growing up in Texas, I don't recall EVER seeing any anywhere in Texas. My son and I saw one this past weekend out in the Hill Country on Hasenwinkle Road between Comfort and Fredericksburg. At first, I thought it was a Turkey Vulture sitting in a tree, but it looked kind of big. Then as we got closer, we realized it was a BIG Bald Eagle!

A noted biologist ornithologist at Texas a&i University( now a&m kingsville) used to say, you never know birds have wings.
It is called a firebox, you can burn anything in it, but I prefer charcoal. It costs about $100 on Amazon.
I was like you grew up in North Texas never seeing them, now they now live in Montague and Wise county.

Started the day at 28 degrees with ice on the seats. Rode to Marfa for breakfast and then Presidio to start the river road ride through the state park. Here’s a few pics of today’s ride.
