Took the long way into town today to check out one of my favorite local roads after a cyclist told me it'd been closed. I think he misread the sign. Nothing new here except some 1-2" gravel the county put down in places.

Reading comprehension these days…..

A little Talimena with my riding buddy Darryl then back home and a little ride to Bug Tussle. And last but not least my newest riding partner.

Today was a great day to poke a few holes in the wind and enjoy the warm afternoon.

Rode over to Crafton, then to Newport, wife asked for a water break so we stopped in Jacksboro.

Wandered around for a while and then we were "off to see the Wizard."

Wizard Wells that is. Did not stop, should have gotten a photo of the old hotel.

Decided it was dinner time when we came to Bridgeport.

If you are passing through Bridgeport and are hungry, Pronto's is just off 380 heading out towards Runaway Bay. It is very good.

So just under four hours we broke the century mark.

Yep, too nice of a day to pass up. The WR is getting some fork hygiene so I took off on the FJR this morning hoping to find a nice spot for a picnic. I found one under a tree overlooking the James river crossing.

Yeah sold the old one i had for a few years. This new one has disc brakes and Japanese Fi. It’s way improved over my 20
Year old one.

Now that Sarah and Daniel are legit, I took them both out riding today after church. The weather was PERFECT! We managed to get over to Iola before they closed and had lunch. Then we meandered all over the place on dirt roads down toward Anderson, Richards, and Montgomery before working our way back North. All told, we knocked out about 185 miles. They both did great on the pavement and on the dirt. They took turns on the XT250. The non-rider sat QUIETLY on the back of my GS while I coached the rider from behind. I like to let them lead and set their comfortable pace based on what I am telling them about upcoming corners, roads, road surface conditions, intersections, etc,... I've ridden most of these roads so many times I have every corner memorized. They seem to like this arrangement. Also, if I seem them starting to drift wide or target fixate, I can immediately tell them, "EYES UP! TURN YOUR HEAD!" It is amazing how effective this is and how quickly their lines correct when I do that! However, I really haven't had to do if very often. I failed to get any actual riding pictures because... well... we were having too much fun riding!

Daniel is on the XT-250 and Sarah is hiding behind my GS.

This shot is actually from Saturday. It was Sarah's first time to ride outside of our neighborhood and at highway speeds. We rode a mix of street/dirt and even rode into town so she go to experience riding in a bit of traffic. The two kids behind are good friends that wanted to video her riding away. We had just finished attending a Court of Honor for a friend that got his Eagle Scout badge.
