Third Annual Brazos Dual Sport Ride

We had our third ride/camp out in Glen Rose at the scenic Cross and Graves ranch hosted by @Jacob Cain and his family.
A chilly morning brought perfect riding weather later in the day for a 200+ mile event. Covering mostly Bosque and Hamilton counties, the recent rains had really greened things up ushering in Spring!

After hot coffee and a brief safety meeting we were out the gate.

The morning took us to Hico and Hamilton for lunch and fuel.

Deep Down road never disappoints.

Sure was tempted to walk across the street for pie in Hico!

After a great lunch at Wenzels (Bucket’o Meat) in Hamilton it was off to Cranfills Gap and scenic 4180.

Hey Jake, I enjoyed meeting you and Fawn at Aaron's place Friday.

The best riding was around the community of Norse. The largest Norwegian settlement in Texas formed in 1845 with a Post Office established in 1880. Hog Creek and infamous 3137 were in this area.

3137 looked as though it had a dozer run down it recently making it particularly difficult. Kudos to all who traversed it!

“Bikers occupy small town store!” Both groups joined back up here for a final sprint back to the camp. I’m sure they appreciated the business.

The day couldn’t end without a little drama. Only a couple miles from the ranch is the infamous 1008 Paluxy low water crossing. Claiming many victims over the years from Harleys to big ADV’s. The Pro line shown below is known by most repeat offenders.

However the Game Warden in the parking area apparently didn’t and took issue. I crossed safely only to see the next three riders slide out.

Harold recovered nicely with a great save. Pro move!

No injuries or damage and free bike washes to boot!

Jake really stepped it up this year and not only had hot chow waiting on us but also cool door prizes donated from the likes of Giant Loop, Moto Camp Nerd, Law Tiger and many others.

He said it's illegal to operate vehicles in Texas river beds. He's right of course, probably figured we were flaunting the law. Or knew there would be carnage. I'm sure he was quite familiar with that crossing.

Thanks for the explanation. Kind of a poor stance from the Game Warden considering the road has water flowing over it most of the time and for all intents and purposes is part of the river bed.
