I am in the process of disassembling the read end of the 'Strom to install a HyperLight kit and found a Master Mechanic 8mm socket in my hex socket box. I figure it is somebody's from the tech day, probably Judd's - anyone missing one? All mine are Craftsman...

I think that is mine.

Also, I think you left your heat gun here. I was attempting another install on the handguards and found the heat gun.

Any luck with the handguards?

Can we exchange tools sometime this week? I will be needing the heat gun to help put some heated grips on my son's bike. (I'm off Friday if that helps)

Left handguard is on and fine. Right handguard is still a problem because of how far I have to tilt the controls to get the brake line out of the way. So, I ordered the u-clamp that allows for clearance of lines. I will probably leave the left clamp the way it is and only replace the right. I'm getting closer...

Friday works. I can drop it off at your house.

I received the u-clamps this evening. So, I put only the right u-clamp on leaving the left clamp the way it is. Overall, I think it's a success. I may have a few other twtexans check to see what they think. My digital camera is out of action so I'll see if I can get Chuck to take pics if I ride to his house on Friday.

I now have discovered that the handguard set Chuck bought came with a standard 7/8 clamp. My Pro Tapers have a different outer diameter so the clamp doesn't fit flush against itself. I'll take pics. (Cycra's clamps have specific fittings - Pro Taper, e.g.)

Yeah, I bought them for my standard bars. However, I didn't remember that there was a difference. You might check with Cycle Gear, I believe I remember seeing some Cycra parts & they may have the a piece that will work. Or maybe some other local shop might be able to help.

They're okay for now. I may just order them from cycra like the u-clamps. Although, a visit to Cycle Gear may be a good idea, too. See you Friday!

found a Master Mechanic 8mm socket in my hex socket box.

It was good to see Judd even if he was running errands with two of his pups and drove the truck. Thanks for stopping by and bringing my heat gun!

Well, the 8mm socket wasn't his...but, er, ya know, I might just be mine that I purchased in Junction back in April...

A mind is a terrible thing to waste...

He has is bike back together with the new guards on.
And his opinion of the heated grips yesterday was: :thumb: :thumb:

Heated grips are indeed fantastic!

Although, my favorite mod from the tech day is still the dual horns! :lol2:
