Just got back from a great motorcycle vacation that lasted for 10 days. Started out with us and another R3 Triumph couple meeting up in Decatur on Friday 5/16. From there we set out to Tucumcari N.M. to spend the night at the "Blue Swallow Motel" on historic route 66. What a neat place, I would recommend it, it's been restored and is very clean and the rooms even have individual garages to park your bike in. From there it's off to Las Vegas N.M. where most of the movie "Easy Riders" was filmed and what a great and friendly town that turned out to be. We stayed at the Plaza Hotel and it is very quaint, a neat place to stay. The next day it's off to Durango CO. to stay at the General Palmer Hotel for a couple of days. From there we rode to Silverton and Ouray and back with a stop at some hot springs around Purgatory. Next is Taos and then Los Alamos, Sante Fe, Ruidoso, Roswall and back home some 2258 miles later, safe and sound, praise the Lord!:rider:

The Blue Swallow is a really cool place. We also stayed once at the Thunderbird Inn in Las Vegas, NM. It had a huge indoor atrium with a pool. There was a wedding reception going on, and they invited us to sit in with them. Very cool old motel. Nothing fancy, just clean and fun.

I'm envious. Well done!

Where's that freshly 1/2-paved road in the one attached pic?

It's between Durango and Silverton. I wish they had gotten to the Million (pot hole) dollar between Silverton and Ouray. Beautiful road.. but plenty bumpy.

You're killing me. That is almost the exact ride I had planned for this past month, but due to remodeling issues I've had to delay until August/Sept. I'm glad you had a great trip.
