Re: [LIberty Hill - Austin] "Fun"-Raiser for JoAnn A.... 10/18/08

What a great day!

I was fortunate to meet JoJo and Mic today and enjoy an afternoon helping to defray the costs associated with her accident. I don't think we could have had a nicer day. There were plenty of raffle drawings going on, a DJ with music all afternoon, a kids romper room castle and tons of bbq, burgers, dogs and cold beverages.

I also got to meet many more TWT folks including WoodButcher, JackInTexas, and Quicksilver in addition to seeing Gilk51/Tortuga, Maverick and Shootergal. Somehow we missed Kurt but he might have been there before noon which was about when we started to show up.

Here's a few shots I managed to squeeze in:

I arrived around 1pm and moseyed out a little after 3pm. Nice seeing everyone again. It was nice meeting JoAnn, so pleasant, so pretty  Keep getting better and better Jo, you looked great! Here are some pictures. Enjoy!

It was a pleasure to meet Jo and hang out with the folks around the crazy 8 today. We were a little late in arriving, but that's another story.

Jo, I pray that God blesses you in ways you never dreamed of. From what it looked like today, you have lots of people in your corner. That says a lot about how much they care and how much you mean to them. Very cool indeed.

Thank you so much to the many TWTers that came out, shared some food, had a good time, and helped out Jo. It was a great lift of her spirits to have so many people she knows and has never met before show up to support her. We cannot that you enough. It was very nice to meet quite a few more TWTers.

Thank you all again. Greatly appreciated!!!

Mic

We were a little late in arriving, but that's another story.

 I found a voice message from Jack when we stopped in Hamilton for gas on the way home. I forget to check the phone after riding for several hours. From the sounds of it and the timetable we were on, we probably would have arrived to "rescue" about the same time Tina did. :eek2:
(still, sorry I didn't repond while there, Jack  )

That should stroke some interest in Jack's story.

Susan and I arrived just a bit before 2:00PM. And yes, it was great to meet Jo and Mic. :thumb: Continued prayers for the healing of the infection in your leg. You wouldn't have known there was a problem just talking with you.

And Jo and Mic's co-workers from Samsung are first class!

Susan and I got home about 9:00 after stopping for dinner in Glen Rose and then choosing I35W with Saturday night costruction!

Both Susan and I had a great time with the TWT "family". :thumb:

Long story short. The ZZR had a rear wheel bearing go out. I was in Georgetown when I felt it and the folks over at Central Texas Powersports are taking care of it. I was fortunate that it didn't act up earlier when I was far from a shop. I called Tina to google Kawi dealers in the area and was pleased to find out I was so close to them. I eased over there and they were great. It's been a long time since I have had any positive experience with a dealer, these folks really took care of me today.

Tina drove over and picked me up, then we headed over and got burgers at the fun raiser. So we were a little late to the party, but I am glad we were able to make it.

I also can't say enough about my wife who is there for me so often. I call my wife and say I am broke down 170 miles from home and she jumps in the truck, throws two new tires in the bed to make sure she gets the right one(figured I'd let them place the new rubber on since they had the wheel off anyway), then buys you a new joe rocket jacket at the shop when she gets there. I'd have to say she's a keeper.

Don't worry about the phone call Chuck, I was kinda thinking you two were still on the road after your post of getting a late start. It all worked out like it should. I had the chance to visit with a nice guy who was having his 600 mile maintenance done on his very sharp Black ZX10.

I just took a couple of pictures.

The Crazy 8 had stuff set up in the parking lot:

JoAnn had a lot of visitors - she is sitting just to the right of center (pink top)

If things go well, we just might see Jo and Mic in Hutto next Saturday for the Pie Run.

I am glad to see JoAnn is doing so well. Looks like there was a great turnout, sorry we missed it. We were already committed to to going to Colors. Great pics from everyone.
Does anyone know if JoAnn & McSpeedy will be able to make the Pie Run this coming weekend?

Both Jo and Mic admitted it was too close to miss. Barring any complications, it sounded like they would try to make it.

Sorry folks,

We would have like to make it, but......
She was still in the hospital from going in Wednesday for another round of infection-cleaning and I was in the middle of moving our stuff from my apartment into her house. Reallly a let down since it was soooo close to home.

Anyways, I'll post up another update on her condition, but she is home now. Brought her home again yesterday. Let's hope this is for good.

Mic-

I got a message from paypal yesterday that the donation link from Jo Jo's webpage didn't work.

The funds have been returned to your account.

This payment was returned for the following reason(s):

jojoalsheiskh@hotmail.com did not sign up for a PayPal account or did not complete the registration process.

I don't know if it's a problem with me specifically, or is going to effect all the donations through paypal, but thought you should know. If you'll let us know when it's working I can send it again. Otherwise you might want to set up an alternative method of donation.

I got the same thing.

Let us know when it's fixed, and I'll re-submit my contribution.

Sorry for the delay in getting back. The account that was created was done so primarily for the fundraising event and our friend who created it has closed it out. She has updated the website: it basically says send a personal check directly to her.

She said her PayPal account is also closed, but that is not true. She still have the Paypal account. You are more than welcome to send her a check directly to:

Jo Ann Al-Sheikh
14302 Rosseau St
Austin, TX 78725

or Donate thru PayPal by going into your PayPal account and hitting "Send Money" and using her e-mail address: jojoalsheikh at hotmail dot com.

If you have any questions, you can send me a PM.

Thanks,

Mic

Mic, how are the finances doing? I figure that the driver's insurance didn't cover all the expenses. I hope the fund raiser helped out.
