You have to host the pictures at another site like Photobucket, Smugmug, Webshots etc. Then you link the photos to the post at TWT.

Thanks Rich.

I will go ahead and post some more pictures the same way, then I will have to take a look at that later.

Albie's two flats.

Hey, Rick. Thanks for posting the GPS data; I did not realize we had changed elevation so drastically. I guess it was a bit "hillier" than I thought.

Well that was fun. Thanks to Tim and everyone else involved in putting this ride together. I'm already looking forward to the next one.

Hey looks like all of you had a great time! I sure wish I could have made this on too. So now that your back home and bikes are washed, get ready for another ride Feb. 8th.
And all of us that wished we had gone on this ride are invited too.
Used to be most D/S rides were west of here. But looks like the East Texas Crowd is stepping up!

Trail Riders of Houston is sponsoring a D/S ride. And this one will have some trail time through the Sam Houston National Forrest.
A must ride for those of us that like more dirt than pavement!
Not difficult stuff, but if you like 9 mile road then your gonna love this stuff!

the ride is free but donation will be accepted for a worthy cause!

Please plan on attending.

Sorry to hijack thread but since I had ridden with most of you on previous East Tx Rides I knew you would be interested in this one, I wanted you guys to fill your calenders asap.

Nice work Rick. I see that you made it all the way to HWY103 while on the 103 Bypass. Do you remember what kept you from crossing 103 and heading north through Norwood? Looks like you didn't have any problems with the 96 Bypass....that's a great section.:flip:

Too bad for me. I seemed to have done something that should have been impossible. While clicking through routes, I somehow deleted the map region on the northside of the lake. This left me unable to navigate till Yellowpine on day two...real hassle except that Kenny was there to get us through.:rider:

Still I was content with riding dirt roads during some great weather...even if I didn't know where I was for half the ride.:lol2: And thanks to Rich for suggesting to run the route in reverse. I thought it worked great especially the late breakfast on day two and getting back early.

Btw..To the riders who were asking about GPS's, don't discount their abilities due to the problems on this trip. All but one small glitch was operator error on my part.

Here's the few pics I was able to take.

The not so bad backtrack on the 1745 Bypass. The gate was open, but we decided to turn back thinking the gate on the other end could be locked. And according to Trailace it was.

Nice KLR on a typical road.:rider:

One of my favorite sections. A nice two track that winds through the hills switching from sand to clay to gravel then to giant potholes.

Dismount for breakfast at the Stump.:eat:

Great ride! Lot's of new TWTers. I enjoyed meeting everyone and seeing some old friends.:sun:

No apology needed here. I'll make it if possible, otherwise, I'll be sending my donation by mail.;-)

Thanks to everyone who put this together. What a blast for a first motorcycle trip. You guys were fun to ride with and it really opened my eyes.

I'll be doing more of this for sure.

Cheers,
Mike

On your east Texas rides that go into the national forrest, do you need the off road sticker? Or any other registration to be legal?

We stayed on county roads, so all we needed were street legal bikes, tags , inspection, and insurance. Several of the bikes did have the OHV decal for riding in other places though.

Thanks! I hope to come down and join in on one of ya'lls rides, am getting tired of our dusty gravel, would like to try some of your dusty sand:rider:

We started on the 103 bypass but when I made the route it was for north to south and could not get it to invert on the GPS so we just went back to the original route. Since you knew the 96 bypass was ok I had added it to the original route. I liked running it in reverse but I forget to invert all my routes so we could not test them.

Yeah, running in reverse works best. Sometime soon I'm gonna spend one or two weekends up there doing some recon. Drawing these unproven bypasses from my recliner ain't gonna cut it.:lol2:

I am so envious!! The pictures look like the road conditions experienced by the several of us that scouted out the route back before the first ride. Duke rode his GS ADV on many of the miles, and could have ridden the whole route when the road was like it appeared for this ride.

What were the extremes in equipment brought to the ride? Any Stroms, Buell Ulys, BMW GS, or other "upper end" ADV "DS" rides out there?

As far as I know, Rick (Trailace) had the only Beemer. Of the 21 bikes that made it, I counted 9 KLR650s, around 4 DRZ 400s, a couple XRs, Jimmy's 250 Sherpa, Albie's KTM (400?) and a few others I don't remember. The weather was perfect, with almost no mud whatsoever. We did stop at "your" bridge though; seems it has become quite famous  .

I think 650s were the biggest bikes there, although one of the KTMs may have been bigger. Small bikes were in presence with the Sherpa, the spankin' new KLX and my XR holding down the 250 class while Don was on his DR350.

My new shift lever (and a spare) are due to be delivered tomorrow. Then I can test ride it and see where the oil leak is coming from. I ran it a lot in the garage this week and it would not even weep a trace. I suspect that it may be the countershaft seal, and may only leak under stress.

Hey Trailace--where did you get the rim clips you used when you changed Jimmy's tire????
