DAL/FTW: Dallas Motorcycle Show, Sat/Sun Jan 23/24

I am going with a buddy of mine but he isn't getting off work until after noon on Saturday. If he brings his boys it might be a while for us to get out there and it may shorten my stay. I have a ticket for Saturday and Sunday for myself so I will be going back on Sunday but I imagine the big day is Saturday. Just Saturday for him. If he wants to come back on Sunday he can cough up 10 bucks or whatever, lol. I'm looking forward to looking into the Yamaha booth because I want to hear what is going on with the FJ-07 and find out if it is going to make it over here or not. If not I may just go ahead and get myself a slightly used FJ-09 and call it done.

Come to think of it I may just tell him to meet me over there and go Saturday AM. :trust:

Oh, and cue all of the bellyaching about:

"I'm not riding to Dallas! That's just to darn far!"
"The show is too small, I'll just go to my podunk dealer and look around!"
"$10?!?!?!?!!? Who has $10 for this thing, it should be free!"
"Dallas drivers scare me, I'm staying home."

I will be there Saturday afternoon, I will camp out at Ghost's Friday night, hang out Saturday morning and got to Dallas.

Shuffling some BMWDFW club members over to the show on Saturday morning. Should be there at opening or soon after.
I prefer "soon after" so I can avoid the mad squeeze thru the turnstiles when they flag the event off.

What are you looking for this year? Clothing? Hardware? Farkles? Or even a new bike!

I need some boots and want to see what the new stuff looks/feels like in person.

I'm going despite all that. It's a great excuse to get out of the house in a cool weather month and visit with friends from all the different MC organizations.

A few of us are meeting for breakfast at Buzbrews in Deep Ellum at 8am then riding to the show from there. Feel free to join us for breakfast.

I'll be there with my middle son in the morning. Heading to the RaceTech booth for some emulators for the KLR. Hoping there's a Honda AT I can sit on, drool over and think of an excuse to put a deposit on. After that we're riding out to the Ghost Ranch for the weekend to build an outhouse, get dirty, eat, ride, sit around the campfire and test out the Thermorest cot I got for Christmas.

Me and the kiddo will be there Saturday morning. We are going to "Look at all the cool bikes" but really we are there to let him sit on some stuff to see what fits so I can figure out what to get him for his birthday in March. He's tall for his age (unlike his dad) so tough to figure out without letting him sit on stuff and dream. :D

Well, don't bash the show too hard. Granted, there are no demo rides, and not near as many private vendors, but ALL the makers are there!
These shows cost millions and millions and they base it off the economy and attendance.
They have cut out a lot of cities, we should be thankful Texas even has one!
I love going , small or not, this is all we have for us motorcycle enthusiasts in Texas.
It is what you make of it. I'm excited to see the Africa Twin in person ! And visit with all my moto budies!

I will be going early Saturday morning, but sadly not on the bike. Taking my great-grandson Tyler who is only 6 years old. He is not quite old enough for a bike trip yet, but needs some bonding with his Paw-paw.

I'd argue that all the major makers are there. I don't see some of the more minor ones that used to attend, so it's still not as good as it used to be. Unless I missed them, Husqvarna and MV Agustsa aren't on the list. I'd sure like to see their current crop of bikes at the show. MV used to have the sexiest display in the show.

The old chicken and the egg thing. If the show sucks, the attendance will be down. It's kind of like a losing football team griping because they don't have the support of the fans. Win games and people will come. (Tampa Bay fan here, so I know this). Bring amazing motorcycle shows and people will come. The more that come the more that pay to get in the more that spend their $$$ on the stuff they see.

Sorry, I wasn't actually bashing the show. Just hard to justify 4 hour drive(one way) and fight Dallas traffic that I'm not use to, just to see a small handful of bikes that actually interest me. Not trying to ruin it for anyone else, have fun.

If they really cared about attendance, maybe alternate between Houston and Dallas. Give everyone a fair chance to go.

I am considering riding up from Conroe on Friday to catch the show from 4pm to 8pm and then riding back, but likely the next morning.

I'll be there by 10-10:30. If anyone else is there and wants to hang out a bit or just say hello, my cell is 817-789-7360.
