The bartender at the high Sierra bar is relived to find out the 90+ bikers planned for tomorrow is not the pirate type. Munchin on enchiladas and beer currently, feel free to join you others who are here.

Holy cow! Been a couple of years since I've been here. This place is popping. People everywhere.

And 4 bars of 4G?

Terlingua is on the grid?

Crazy.

No problem Ed..............that was the only way I could get my deposit back! Haha The reason I didn't go was because I wanted to stay in Dallas so I could ride a vintage MX race this Sunday, which has been postponed for the last 5 weeks because of rain. Now guess what? It's frigging raining again! I can't seem to win for losing. Anyway enjoy and be sure and stay away from that JT dude! I hear he's trouble. ; )

I thought you had a room with JT.
It won't be the same without you (r complaining about your butt)
We' ll miss you for sure.

The dirt in Big Bend turns from dust to peanut butter, just add water.

Ain't that the truth....

Crossing Terlingua Creek on Hen Egg could will be interesting with the rain we had last night. If the forecasted rains fall before the ride it will be very interesting!

Well, the weather isn't good.... but it's good enough. Bike is loaded up and I'll be hitting the road in the next few minutes.

See ya'll in Terlingua!

The gnarly hill on the west side should be just as entertaining.

After driving most of the day in the rain, I got into Presidio Tuesday evening. Went to the state park yesterday morning & was worried about it being too wet. I don't mind mud on me but I'm not into tearing up their trails.

But in actuality, apart from the part on the main park road which had washed away in the night it was mostly dry. Bumped into UlyBrad & crew headed out of the park then had a fantastic ride to the Gaelo trailhead.

Today I'm going to mountain bike on the East side of BBSP. See y'all on the porch later!

Leaving Marathon for Terlingua. Let's see how the V-Strom does in these conditions... :)

Man......ain't that the truth. Got caught between Lajitas and Terlingua one time on one of Burl's rides and I promised myself never again! It was horrible and I didn't even get the full dose of it. I saw pavement and went for it after about 30 minutes of pushing, pulling and dragging the KTM.

Got about 180 miles of treks in today. So regardless of the weather tomorrow, I'll go home with epic memories. It was simply awesome.

Great weather on Thursday... not so much today :storm:. Good ride in the national park yesterday. Finally completed the big loop... Maverick > River Road > Black Gap > Old Ore. Previous attempts all ended with short time and long breaks... or breaks in equipment.

Unusual rains here recently and the desert's in bloom. The fragrance is overwhelming as we ride along. :photo:

One feller on a BMW Sertao had a rough day of it all. :lol2: No harm done beyond a customized shift lever.

On our way down into the spot that puts gap in Black Gap Pass. :eek2: Much more subdued than in times past. Folks have done some filling and smoothing. :argh:

Rode out through the ranch homesites... scenic stuff. :zen:

Folks were up early this morning to start off on the Desert Challenge ride. :sun: They're starting to trickle in now. :pirate: Guess I'll ease down to the porch and see how the stories are shaping up... :chug:

Later.

Was out there a week ago and the BB Bluebonnets were awesome. Great year for the desert. About every 10 years it is thus nice. GO NOW....

RG thanks for keeping us that are stuck at home in the loop.

Shadman is doing a great job. We are getting good rain on already slick dirt and tomorrow is the dos y dos. The ct did 50 miles of mud today at the ranch. Great food.

Awesome trip so far, a few thunderstorms leaving Austin. Great ride to to Kermit. The sand dunes were epic. Missed the thunderstorms down to Study Butte. Awesome ride on the dessert challenge today. Perfect weather for the ride. Excited about a two up ride with the wife tomorrow!

Thanks for putting on a great event Peter. Good times.

Weather threat actually played into perfect conditions for Desert Challenge. Nice and cool, incredible traction, and zero dust.

Enjoyed meeting those 3 amigos riding the 1-3 finishing KTM's. Yaw picked the funnest lines!

And thanks goes to Peter and his whole sweep team. Great job on everything. ?

Re: 2015 Uncle's Around the Bend, Desert, ADV, and Dos y Dos Challenges Mar 19 - 22 2

I'm the one who failed to negotiate the Black Gap road during the Desert Challenge. The cost was dear.
I want to thank all those that stopped and helped pull my bike out and those who stayed with me until I could get some medical help. Cannot remember all the names but, Peter, Vinnie, thanks a bunch and special thanks to the gentleman who offered up a prayer with me.
A broken rib and punctured lung was the diagnosis and luckily I was able to escape surgery. I'll be riding again soon, and will definitely be back next yrs.
If anyone has any pics of my crash pls forward to me, I would really like one OR feel free to post the humiliation.

My most sincerest thanks !
TWT Rocks !

And yea, nice attitude too.

Re: 2015 Uncle's Around the Bend, Desert, ADV, and Dos y Dos Challenges Mar 19 - 22 2

Great Desert Challenge on Friday! The roads were in the best conditions ever. The local rain had brought the desert flowers out in mass numbers. Fantastic job by all involved in hosting this. Great to hear that DMUX is OK, Also sending a prayer your way. Already planning on next year.
