KTM has teased it, April 24th they will release another SMT with 990 parallel twin motor. Woo Hoo! Should be fun.

Now, now. Is it really that much better than a v-twin 950? :duck:
Wonder where we can find and ride one of those? :duck:

Some spy photos out there, we have to wait until the 24th of April.

How about this one?

Hey KTM, make up your mind! Is it a 790 or a 890 or a 990 or maybe a 1090? No it's an 1190, no wait a 1290. Dang it I give up!!!

950 (942 cc) To 990 (996 cc) to 1090 (1050 cc) to 1190 (1195 cc RC-8R motor) to 1290 (1301 cc) if you needed a proper decoder ring for the orange beasties.

KTM also patented an automatic gear box similar to the Honda DCT stuff. Might shake up the Adventure market.

1290, then release a 390 super lightweight. Then to offer customers a reason to trade up, offer a 490, then a 590, then a 690, then a 790, then an 890, then a 990, then an 1190, then a 1290 beast, followed by a revolutionary lightweight 390, and then start the cycle all over again. :D

Unlike Triumph who is just like "We need something bigger to keep up with the KTM's of the world. How about a 1500? Nah, let's just do a 2500 and be done with it. " :D

While the triumph has a lot more torque, and approximately the same hp as the Super Duke 1290 R, it weighs 640 pounds DRY. That is some serious heft to even lift off of the stand, much less stop with normal brakes. The KTM weighs 466 wet. So lets see, almost 200 pounds lighter with about the same hp? So, of course, you would pick the Triumph. LOL.

Update: I have purchased 3 motorcycles this month. I only sold/traded one. So Doug doesn't need an SMT, I will love looking at one and would enjoy someone lettimg me ride theirs, but I am a 1290/990 guy these days, of the LC8 variety, not the LC8C. Just saying...

Dang, the guy that put that together must have really loved it! LOL. Looks like you are enjoying your ride, sir. I am in the middle of putting the YZ250J back to stock as a motocross bike, I think she will be sweet.
