Thanks Scott and everyone involved for organizing and providing free eats. Everything was great, including seeing old friends (you know who you are!) and meeting new ones.

The Clear Lake contingency.

Anyone happen to pick up a strap about 1" wide and 3" long with a black handled key on it? I think I set it on the kitchen counter and now can't find it anywhere. It goes to our riding mower, which is REAL hard to push back into the garage...

Yes, as all have said, thanks for the food and great time. Very nice to be invited to your home and be served so well...

Another hearty Thanks from myself, was what the Doctor didn't know to order. Got into some rain coming home but the biggest worry was the heavily lightning so I stopped in Corsicana.

Did anyone know there is a Tesla charging station at the Fruitcake place? And it actually gets used, and got to talk to a Tesla owner at length while I let the light show pass.

Oh and looking forward to seeing if you happened to get the elusive picture of me smiling at some point, people don't believe they are ever taken and its nice to prove otherwise. I do think you have one with me stuffing my face with a burger tho. *laugh*

Tina and I really enjoyed the chance to visit with old friends and make a couple of new ones as well.

Thanks to the Fridays for opening up their home for everyone.

ps- Was the "burger bash" also an undercover BMW owners rally? Lots of Beemers in the driveway today. :thumb:

Thanks to Scott and Beth for all their hospitality. It was great to meet everyone. We made it home without encountering any rain. It started at about 10:30 in Longview.

Scott, CR4020 worked out well. It was dry & hard & a good diversion from 19 even for only 14 miles.

You got lucky with the rain then, glad it stayed away.

Distress signal from the Nostromo.

A better shot of them. She wound up with one of James Cain's give away jackets and a pair of gloves from Snoopster. I tried to give them as much stuff as I could but they were running out of room on the bike :lol2:

:tab As usual, there were a lot of other folks in attendance whose pictures I did not take. I was having to juggle cooking duties with taking pictures, visiting with folks and keeping an eye on all the kids. We had quite a few folks from our neighborhood come over as well. The weather turned out to be perfect. We never got any rain and the temp was in the mid 60's with no humidity. It was really nice getting to see everyone.

:tab I hope to do another Burger Bash in the fall, usually Sept or Oct. But if all goes according to plan, I hope to be studying for the Professional Engineering exam which is in October, so I might have to schedule a Burger Bash a little later than normal.

:tab The road I am familiar with is just East of that, CR 4025. It is a fun road, but it has a LOT of sand, quite deep in some places. I think that is the one I had in mind when you were asking me about 4020 but I could not recall the numbers. I am glad you did not end up on 4025 and your bike with a passenger on those tires would have been quite the adventure!

We want to add our great big THANK YOU TO SCOTT AND BETH too! We had a really nice time visiting with everyone at the Burger Bash and the food was GREAT!! We were wondering too if it was a BMW get together?? Of course we were on an RT, so we were right at home.

On the way home we stopped at Able's gun store and looked around and watched the Professional Clays Shooters blast some clays out of the sky. This was certainly a "man's day" for Zippy!!! ;;-)

Thanks again Scott and Beth for your hospitality!!

Lee and Zippy (Walter)

:lol2: I am horrible with names and I could not remember if Kelly was right, so I did not want to post it and find out it was something else. You know... she might read this and ask you, "So... who's this Kelly he's talking about...?" :-P

LOL! By the way on the way out on 980 south from your house about a half mile if that we saw a Bald Eagle ! Left hand side of the road being harassed by several smaller birds.

Thanks for the burgers and a great time! I really enjoyed it.

Sean, it was good talking with you. You need to come do some rides with us. That white 990 is WAY TOO CLEAN.

A big thanks to the Fridays and every one elso who helped put this together. The weather forecasts for Saturday were rainy and I bet that kept a few at home. But it turned out perfect.

:tab Now that is interesting! Beth saw one not long ago in a big field on the side of I-45 near the Holiday Unit (North side of town before the truck stops). It was sitting in the very top of the ONLY tree in several hundred acres of grazing fields. She said it was huge and the white head was VERY obvious. A few months ago, I was heading South on FM 1791 and as I dropped down into the San Jacinto river lowlands, there was a bald eagle sitting in the top of a tree near the road. I tried to get pics of him but he was watching me and kept flying just a little too far away for me to get a good shot. I would move, start to set up for the pic, and he'd do it again. Finally he just took off and flew out over the wetlands area that was created in that area not long ago. I looked them up recently and they are known to live this far South. We've never seen one so close to our place though.
