Jus got bac home today....wiiiinnndy! 35mph gusts
But the flaurs were worth it. Didnt take any more pics..... standouts are....
Hwy16 north of Llano to county line. !!!!!!!!!
Most Ive ever seen. Llano hasta be seedn the roadways
FM965 from Enchanted Rock north to 16
Hwy16 Fburg to Llano too.
Llano CR113 highly recommended by anuther rider...but I didnt geta ride it this time.
Llano CR216 215 & 202 would be a good bet although I didnt get to these either.
RR1323 from 1320 to Hwy281 pretty thick along this stretch
Smith-West Rd was pretty nice too
Yeager Creek & Middle Creek had some flowers in spots

Fburg & points to south still in severe drought so not nearly as much color there.

We also went out to Doss on RR783...Langes Mill Rd...Doss Spring Creek..Manor..& Old Harper Rds
Then RR2093..Frederich ..White Oak & Zener-Ahrens/Mculough to Kerrville & a stop for some Culvers Frozen Custard. (cant miss it)
RR1341.. Stoneleigh.. McDonald Lp ...watching the clouds get darker..Hasenwinkle/Centerpoint....at which point the storm clouds caught us....but no soaking...justa steady sprinkling rain. Bear Creek & 87 took us bac to Fburg for the evening.
There were flowers along these roads...but not the large displays like we saw up north.

Sure pretty for a couple weeks but cattle don't eat them. I've got em wildly expanded all over my place this year too. Most ever, and they spread like, well the weeds they are. :-)

My grandmothers (Granny) yard was filled with bloomin weeds almost all year long.

Powers Flower Shop in Marlin

She would whistle while watering them...& all the birds would come up for a quik shower.
Magical

She had the magic touch for sure. Must have been beautiful

For anyone in the Navasota, Anderson, Roans Prairie area, the Blue Bonnets are really thick on the county roads all around Anderson. I think a lot of the local seed them.

Its a wild dichotomy. The cattle ranchers kill them in their pastures but like the springtime roadside appointment.

My rabbits loved flower petals , rabbit candy , i always wondered why cattle didnt eat the wild flowers , found out one day they are poisonous for cows . Answered that question .

Wanna see something pitiful?

A pound of bluebonnet seed yielded this bumper crop ... of five stems.

More proof the Houston area really isn't part of Texas 😉

After doing some dirt work in my yard many years ago i planted several packets of bluebonnets , harrowed them in then raked it , watered it well between rains and in the spring had a few blooms , never mowed till after the seed pods popped and each year I had about half as many come back , until nothing after five years or so . A neighbor around the corner has had a lot full of them every year for over 40 years and he does nothing to them . He doesnt park his trucks there in spring time but parks there the rest of the year .

Come collect them seeds here. Mine are prolific even when i mow them. I cant stop them without serious chemicals i dont want to use. My largest patches acre plus, i just shredded pretty low 5 weeks ago. Sheesh.
