Hello all, I'm not a Texan, but I do come from the biggest state in Oz, West Australia, although, I no longer live there, I now live in Adelaide South Australia.
I'm an ex serviceman, I served a life sentence (25 years) in the RAAF as a police dog handler/trainer/instructor. My first 8-9 years in the workforce I worked as a welder/fabricator, then moved on to various jobs: bricklayer, pipelayer, truck driver, timberman and salesman at which I truly sucked. Despite quitting the welding trade after my five years I retained it as a hobby and I build all manner of things: recumbent bikes and trikes, machinery, tools, knives, furniture, but my true love is building bikes.
I'm 72, but I've been retired for 23 years, working out of my workshop. I do everything in my workshop: welding, machining, fabricating, painting, metal polishing, mechanical, electrical, anodising, wheel building, et al.
I do work slow though, I have reumatoid disease and have had multiple joint fusions and replacements: fingers toes, hips and so on. As well as that I was diagnosed with lung cancer five years ago and I've undergone many treatment plans all to no avail. But Doc says I should get another few years yet, so that'll take me through to around 75, not a bad innings.
This is my latest project which I've just finished, a 74 TX650 custom. It's taken three years to get to this stage, I can't ride anymore, due to the reumatoid, so, it'll just sit in my garage.

Howdy and welcome from Houston! Nothing wrong with sitting on them and wrenching on them. Had rotator cuff surgery myself and have been sidelined for the past six months. Last few was able to at least sit and work on mine.

Welcome Mate! I love Austraila. Prior to my retirement I visited Sydney several times on business. Tipped a few tinnies with both friends and strangers. Sadly I didn't get out of Sydney to see more of the vast land; I didn't trust myself to drive on the left side of the road. Very nice job on that bike. Lovely!

Howdy, and fantastic work on that bike!

I’m jealous cuz it’s winter there

Aye, I have a dear mate in Randwick with a lovely family that's been on me the last 10 years to visit. They've been here three times, so.....
Not sure when that can happen, I've got tons of air miles, but when it does, it'll be this time of year for sure! I wanna shiver in July!!
And I must set foot on Bondi Beach at least once before I shuffle off.

Cheers!

Welcome brother!! You got a couch in your garage? Have will, gunnin to travel. It's only a 24 hour flight from Austin Texas to Adelaide. Then one would only be a 1000km to the Simpson, 1000km to the High Country in Victoria.....or 4000km to Cape York. Sounds too easy.

Welcome to TWT!

Your craftsmanship is outstanding. Ever thought about taking on the show circuit?
