Soozy's 50 First Dates Tour:The Ride Report

You know, Janet, I saw a guy I REALLY thought was Ara in the The Three Little Pigs Mexican Restaurant in Jackson Hole. He had a group of people with him and I didn't see the sidecar rig anywhere. I wonder if that was him?

I am in Buena Vista CO now. I cut the touring a little short because I finally admitted to myself I am SPENT. heheheh Who wudda thunk it?

It is Gold rush Weekend, West Fest is here, and there is always The White Trash Party. One can't be still or bored.

So it's going to be the 29 1/2 First Dates Tour? You had better get busy and do some quickies or you're going to run out of time. :trust:

I have a plan on where to get the other 28 dates. West Fest is this weekend. If that doesn't work, I can have Chuck change the title.

Well, there should be plenty of dates on a Tuesday night when you get home...

I do miss everyone! Mandy told me Rylee is standing now. I asked her to not grow while I was gone.

M38... did the artistic work of dodging out the 'new' and adding sepia toning to really do the job. I love that picture. I was sitting on a bench under cover as the downpour started. It was fresh and cold and loud. People were running everywhere to get out of the rain. I just got lucky with the outcome.

I have been very busy with family things here in Buena Vista. Hope to be past that soon, but I may not be. I am writing to update the 'dates'.

Joe, my brother, the I-net guy in BV is date number 23.

Jenny, my niece, and her SO, Jord, are dates 24 and 25. Halfway! Jenny is due the 9th. Jord works with streams and rivers watching over many environmental issues with high tech equipment he is designing. He wants people to know that it takes more water to produce a plastic throw away bottle for bottled water than the water it holds. Jord goes to work on a snow mobile much of the year.

And then I had a very short date with these fellows when I went up to them to tell them that I am a bad-posterior biker like them. They didn't believe me when I told them I had ridden 6000 miles to get there. So they invited me to Sturgis and promised no one would throw the scooter in the dumpster. They are BIG guys! Dates 26, 27, and 28.

We all went to "Gentleman's Night" at the Gladstone Mine and had Crab Pizza and Banana Bread for dinner as we sat under huge tarps protecting us from a mountain thunderstorm.

They added a hose filled with copper to the fire. Probably toxic, but very pretty.

Tonight is the big closing party at Gladstone and there will be a couple hundred people there...some have been staying summers there since the 60's.

I haven't made it to the West Fest site, but I have waved at dozens of dirt bikers all over town.

There are nice views on all sides of Jenny and Jord's place.

It was a lazy Sunday today and I just am no good at sleeping in, so I sneaked out and went to the Evergreen for breakfast and to see some of the West Fest bikes and folks making their way out of town. I got separated from my boots and riding pants, so I rode in sandals.

The Evergreen was busy!

I wish I had snapped a picture of Barb, the owner. She was back there working harder than anyone and eternally cheerful. She is one of the rare ones. Fifty-ish...bikes, climbs, hikes, and kayaks and as many times as I have seen her working, I did not realize for the longest time that she was missing a leg. Judging by her activity level and vibrant health, she is not missing the leg much.

Here is a very loaded bike!

I have been trying to catch up with your trip Sooz! Finally found time today. Thanks for the river otter, he's cool.
Okay - here's the link for my bands national radio show broadcast - strangely enough - it's a video...
http://www.woodsongs.com/showlist.asp then choose show #536

But enough about me... Soozy - I just love the glass blowing or blown glass exhibit. I loved the magical way the artists have the vision to get to their end project.

If you can get Jenny to name her baby after me, I'll buy your next tank of gas. whatta deal!

Thanks for the link, Marianne. It took a long time to download, but was worth it. So The Bats are famous now! I could hear your chuckle when the other woman was being interviewed. I hummed "Cosmetic Surgery" all day yesterday.

I am packing to head home today. It will be a late start, and I will take 2 days. My goal is to make the BB by 7 on Friday.

Joe got moved, his carpets got cleaned, Jenny and Jord's carpets got cleaned and ready for the new baby, and Jenny got her learner's permit by making a 96 on the test. She has been driving me all over BV to practice for the driving test. Baby Tristan will make his appearance very soon!

I feel like I have become Mary Poppins...except I can't fly with an umbrella.

I did make it to the Gladstone Mine for the "Dress up Party", and I did have two more "dates" when Jord's parents had us all over for pesto pasta made from basil harvested on the property that day. Yum!!

So thirty dates. I need 20 of you guys to be at the BB tomorrow!

I will post the rest of the pictures when I stop tonight.

I don't know whether to eat sugar or fly a kite right now, and where is that umbrella?

Funny, Rich!

I am still in BV. Spent the day at the hospital with Jenny while she was being monitored. I am packed and leaving in the morning unless she goes into labor for real tonight. I couldn't resist being involved if it came to that.

These are a few pictures from the annual "Dress Up Night" at the Gladstone Mine. These are people who come together from all over the world. There are several who work in Antarctica part of the year. I hear the pay is great.

Last night, Jord's parents had us come to dinner at their very adorable cabin. It was surrounded by flowers and herbs. Barb made pesto from basil harvested that day. Oh my goodness, it was wonderful on fresh spinach pasta.

They became dates number 29 and 30.

So you won't be at BB tomorrow night I take it.

"I am ready to be home" I bet you are. You have been on the road for a long time. I've done two trips since you started out. One to Canada and just got back today from Mexico. I love to travel but have to touch home base every so often. You are a true Road Warrior Soozy.

Whatever you give a woman, she will make greater. She multiplies and enlarges what is given to her. If you give her sperm, she'll give you a baby. If you give her a house, she'll give you a home. If you give her groceries, she'll give you a meal. If you give her a smile, she'll give you her heart. If you give her a scooter, she'll give you a ride report from around half a country.

Looking at the spacing on her spot points I think she is probably leaving a cloud of dust in the panhandle. Boogity boogity boogity, lets GO!

Soozy, I'm sending angels to watch over you on the way home.
