HD 120th Anniversary Models

I never have had a problem with mine and the wind. There’s so much weight on the front end it really makes no difference.

That is comedy gold!

I pulled up next to a Pan Am at a light near my house yesterday. First I've seen on the road in my area.

I bought a Pan America in Dallas on Sat and rode back to Houston same day. Yesterday I took it on a 450 mile tour of Houston to get used to it. Other than mine I have never seen one on the road in the Houston area.

I had to fly to Pensacola and ride my Pan Am back to Texas in 2021. There were none available in the San Antonio area. Production may have finally picked up.

Good review of the HD plans coming up. Sound like the Pan America may be in jeopardy or delayed.

Just curious, since the PA is relatively a new machine, I see quite a few for sale with hardly any miles on them. You're thoughts on why ?

seems like the adventure catagory is trending more toward 700 to 900 cc and sub 500 lbs. At least thats what I want.

The dirt glide is great vehicle if you are looking for an ADV shaped tourer. It falls behind as hardcore off roader when compared to a GS or Tiger or Africa Twin. Additionally "Harley Guys" don't consider it to be a "real Harley" so if you are trying to get into the Harley guy social circle and still have a practical vehicle you are out of luck.
I bought mine because of the lower maintenance requirements, dealer/parts network, practicality and lower purchase price.

Rusty,
You're thoughts on the bike ? I haven't ridden or owned one so I really have no opinion on the bike. I thought once people got one, they would keep them for a while.

So far (700 miles) its great. But in all fairness I have had it for 4 days so nothing has gone wrong yet. I picked the non-special edition because I want something I can keep for a long time / as a last motorcycle. The non-special avoids the full electric suspension (how much will that cost to fix in 10 years?)and weighs 40lbs less. Pricing was also very good around $19k. Another part was that am converting all of my USD cash savings into hard assets. 5 years from now my $19K USD may not buy a loaf of bread. I think the Harley will do a better job of holding value than a Tiger or GS, but that is entirety speculation.

I think I would ride a PA more than I now ride my Ultra. I am pretty happy with my Twin. A PA with 150 hp seems interesting.

I always wanted a KTM Super Adventure S, but was afraid of perceived reliability, service, and seat height. The Pan Am addressed those concerns for me. I like everything about it except the kickstand. I don't really go on trips anymore since my main riding buddy stopped. Just day trips and occasional commuting so who knows what the future holds. My route to work is 15 miles of 45mph county roads so I can and have also done it on my 150cc Kymco.

I've never seen many of them. @Mr. Pan AM likes his, last I checked, and there's one that does nothing but sit in the garage along my commute home.
I loved mine that’s for sure. And I put it through its paces as well. People complain about the weight a lot. I didn’t notice it much until I road something lighter. The engine was probably the most fun engine I’ve ever ridden. So much power and torque all over the range.
That said, the electronics sucked, the kickstand was a total disgrace to jiffy stand around the world, above 100mph it was sketchy at best, the battery is way underpowered for the electronics that don’t work properly, and the electric suspension drops to low at a stop to put the kickstand down.
All of this lead me to be so pissed about the $25,000 bike (with accessories) that I traded it in for a Tuareg 660. Aside from the absolute monster power, I don’t miss it at all.

The Tuareg is a bike I'd really like to get a good look at. I'll be interested to hear your reports.
