I'm gonna have to disagree.
Figure out what you're starting with first. It's way cheaper and doesn't take much time to at least try to clean carb at least once. Why spend that kind of money if it's a simple problem? Right now you have no idea what you're working with. Heck, it could be a cracked intake boot. A new carb isn't going to fix that.
Saying a carb swap is is plug and play is BS to me. To do it right, you will have to set the idle mixture. You'll prolly have to mess with the idle speed and throttle cables, too.
