Itchy Boots - Kalahari to S America to Alaska to Africa to Asia

Are those updates she's giving now in real time, or still delayed by a month or two?

Also, that bike looks incredible. I am not a fan of all the red on my 300 Rally, so was browsing some of the sticker sets available. There are many, like this one: https://bikerzbits.com/honda-crf-300lr-rally-decal-sticker-kit-234r002.html

But having bunged up application of even small stickers too often, I'm afraid I'd mess up the bigger ones.

I agree, I think the decal set she chose really sets the bike off. I like it a lot better without the blue and white in it.

Her last video was very sunny for late Dec / early Jan in Anchorage
The Rally was in October so the last Anchorage videos would have been mid to late October. As to Randy's question, she might already be in possession of the bike and is just following her normal process of updating us 6-8 weeks after the fact.

If someone wanted to be the "creepy stalker guy", I'm sure they could look at cargo ships leaving Anchorage in the latter part of October and see what their destinations are and when they arrived there. Marine traffic is tracked just like FlightAware for aircraft.

I can get on the laptop or the idiot box (TV) and get on youtube, type "itc" and itchy boots is suggested. Just checked...she has 1.52 million followers.

I remember when she got home and her 100K followers plaque was there. She was blown away. Said the next one is handed out at 1 million and she figured that the 100K one was all she'd get. Look how far she's come.

She's a special lady and I wish her the best. That sounds a bit creepy...it's not. Like I said, I get a kick out of good folks enjoying themselves, plus my great grandparents are from Sweden and Germany so I'm always a bit focused there.

Interesting that she switched from the Garmin to a tablet for navigation. Anybody know if it's an Android tablet or iPad, and what software she's using?

I like her tablet mounting kit. I had a similar setup last year with OsmAnd, but my tablet case was too flimsy, so now I'm using a TomTom. I do miss the larger screen, but it works. @my6 has a nice tablet setup.

That's OK. When reaching a stable build that is used for a dedicated purpose, version creep is more of a hindrance than a help.
Yeah, agreed except for security updates and the problem that some apps won't run on the older version.

I'm assuming that the service allows installing any Android app. If only curated, controlled apps are allowed, then my point is weaker.

Indeed, that looks too be a match. Very interesting to see her go with this device, and I wonder if she also got the thumb controls.

I'm glad to see this product still on the market, but man, it's expensive and still based on Android 9 which is fairly long in the tooth now.
Is Android 9 even getting security updates anymore? My 4year old Galaxy S10 is on v12.
But that is a really cool tablet.

I suspect openstreetmaps data is going to be more accurate/up to date than the Garmin maps, especially in Africa and for the back roads she prefers. It will be interesting to learn more about her swap down the line. Maybe she still has the Garmin tucked away in luggage.

@JT according to the Book of Knowledge (Wikipedia), Android 9 is no longer supported. The last release was on January 4, 2022; 13 months ago.

I rolled the dice on the Far East and came up the loser. I thought Vietnam, Laos, Thailand was a sure thing.

I ruled Morocco out because the Europeans seem to love to go there on "holiday." I figured she'd been there, done that much earlier in life, so I didn't think about it as a jumping off point for Northern Africa until I saw the street signs in the beginning of the new video.
