Pie Run IX: A Bit West and "Smokin'!" at the Smokestack in Thurber, 9/24

Re: Pie Run IX: A Bit West and "Smokin'!" at the Smokestack in Thurber, 9/24

Great day for ride. Left the house at a cool 55° on this second day of fall - it was wonderful considering the heat this summer.

Stopped for gas at FM1431 and FM734 and met another new TWTx member (and his very cute wife) on a very shiny FJR new to Texas too from NJ. Chatted awhile on where to ride both street and dirt. So welcome ffejtable and Suzy.

I got home around 6pm with a tad over 400 miles and one performance award warning. :rider:

No pics of the food?!? :eat:

Some of us are stuck eating shoddy food, have mercy! :-P

We arrived late, but luckily the good folks at the SmokeStack had saved a few slices of delicious pie for us.

After pie, we headed down to Proctor Lake to relax by the water. Enjoyed meeting you, Darren, Dave, Carl, and Drew. Sorry guys, I totally missed the photo op of Darren and Dave when they took iBob's Ural out for a joy ride on Sunday morning. Rats!

Good ride with a group of six from NE Tarrant / Denton County.

Stopped at Possum Kingdom Lake before lunch & pie in Thurber.

Arrived around 11:30 so didnt get much chance to meet with the early crowd.

Here's a pic of my brother (left) who came in from Maryland to 'ride Texas' on a rented GS and Jeff (right) with his more photogenic VFR. Nice paint!

Well I had hoped to make this pie run and see you guys again, but both my daughters had their PADI test dives this weekend (They both passed easily!) but it meant I didn't get to make the pie run.. We will all be at the next one, hope to see Richard, Steve and the others there..
