I've probably refurbished half a dozen of these little Dilly boat trailers over the years just to kill time, and I journaled this project in the "Garage" thread late last year. Derp - its For Sale having never been used for anything other than acting as a shade cover for part of the deck of my larger trailer! lol

Dilly trailer of unknown year manufacture. Pivots about axle/releases just forward of the decking. 2" ball
Hand sanded frame/fenders
Primed (Rustoleum rattle can special)
Painted two or three coats of red and black (Rustoleum rattle can special)
New wiring harness, stop/tail/side marker lights (4-way flat)
New safety chains
New wheel/tire assemblies (4.80x8)
New Timken bearing sets (inner/outer bearings/races)
New dust seals
New 3/4" plywood deck, painted twice top/sides/bottom with outdoor deck paint (that's a 4x8 sheet on top cut down for the nose angles)
New pivot jack/wheel assembly

I'm sitting at $372 (have all receipts) in it at the moment so I figured my time was worth $28. :-)

How about $400? Georgetown, TX
Edit info: No title/BOS only. (not sure these ever had titles?)

So I've had some interest in this yet the no title seems to be a stumbling block.

To my knowledge there wasn't a manufacturers sticker on it when I got it. And for all I recall, there might have been one there and I don't remember. In either case, none is visible nor are there any identifiable stamped VIN numbers on it I'm aware of.

Back in the 80's when these little Sunfish sailboat trailers were popular, did they have titles? Is a title required on such a little trailer these days?

For the experts out there - what would be the steps to secure a title and registration for something like this?

EDIT TO ADD:
Found this information on how to do it on a BOS. As it's under 4000lbs, a title isn't required to register. Yet it CAN be titled which requires a VIN number and another form completed and a bit of running around between agencies.

I love the joke in the pictures.

"What are you towing?"
"A trailer."

Not knocking the quality because it looks really good. Just something to think about are the tires. I pulled a similar trailer all the way to northern Wyoming with a Triumph Tiger on it back about 20 years ago. The 8" tires that were on my trailer were not high speed rated. I had incredible wear on the tires. I bought the trailer a few days before leaving on the trip and sold it as soon as I got home. Had to change tires 3 times on that trip. Cord showing at times. I attributed it to the 70 and 75 mile an hour speed. There may be some better, speed rated tires now. If speed is kept down around 55 mph, it might not be an issue at all. For what it's worth.

Nephew built a light three rail trailer recently, He had a real frustrating time getting plates. Several hoops to jump through.

Not only that, but the bearings can be a serious problem. My dad's old HF folding trailer from back when they had 8" or 10* wheels on them actually had the bearings catch fire on one 2 hour trip with 60mph sustained speeds. 12" tires are highly recommended, even though on my HF trailer they say they are only for 60mph. Just as a potential upgrade for whoever buys this sweet little trailer. Well worth it, unless you are really only towing it at low speeds like on 40mph county roads and neighborhood streets.
