[SOLD]: Refurbished Dilly trailer

Well, the driver's side looks good :thumb: Lol

That does look like fun.
The passenger side looks just like the drivers side except it's got a tiny little tire on the back... An amazingly straight, clean, body with virtually no rust. It's just missing an engine at the moment!

That's an awesome deal, I totally would have bought it too. Going to be a cool project. My neighbor had a CJ5 with a V8 conversion that was parked in his garage for years without it ever working, and I was kind of jealous, but I was actually driving my JKU :) I think a 4.0L conversion might be cooler, no?

EDIT: seems an XJ engine along with the FI and fuel pump (and wiring harness if you can score it) would be pretty legit.

Otherwise maybe the Kubota diesel conversion.

Just me. Seems a V8 is the wrong thing for a CJ5.

$600 for a classic CJ5, even if it doesn't have an engine, seems to be a heck of a deal to me. Congrats. Looking forward to watching the progress on this build.

That's a steal!!! I would have bought it as well.

I think I actually bought one of the dilly trailers from you a few years back and redid it. Still have it and use it to tow 2 sport bikes on the long trips (800 miles+). Tows great and I think with the two front chocks I have about $350 in it. Could use a fresh coat of paint...maybe one day.

I just purchased a galvanized Dilly trailer with bos for $25. I was hoping to use it to build an offset smoker on but can’t find (on the trailer or online) the weight capacity.

Would anyone know where I can find this info?

Measure the wheel bearings id or just look up the numbers on them. You'll be able to get the weight tolerance pretty quick.

I’m not sure if yours is comparable but here’s the tag from mine, and yes, I have the original 1974 title for the trailer. Mine is not galvanized and appears to be two channels, one inside the other and welded together, to make a tube frame that was not galvanized.

I’d like to know where people are finding tires for these. I was looking into tow dolly tires since those seem to handle 70mph+ loaded just fine but finding a set of tires and rims pre-mounted seems to be pricey. Enough so that I wonder about an offset axle with bigger bearings and tires.

Sold the trailer for $400 and picked up another $100 for delivery 40mi away. Then coughed up another $100 and I'm the proud owner of this.

I’ve always wondered, what is the purpose of this indentation on the side of a Jeep?

Early Jeeps had the gas tank under the seat and the filler neck was there. Edit...I was slow on the draw.
