Itchy Boots - Kalahari to S America to Alaska to Africa to Asia

She tricked me with the big race from the last season. Sure she loves to travel but she was pretty hyped about racing and I thought she might get something more race ready.
I think she REALLY wants to complete this S American to Alaska ride first. There is plenty of time for her to go racing afterwards. Who knows, 9 months from now she might be near Bonneville in time for Speed Week and another type of racing may get in her blood.

Or just edit the name of this thread to Itchy Boots. Might as well, since the thread covers more than the Kalahari rally anyway.

So, I've been a fan of Rev'It gear for quite some time and always loved seeing her in her stuff. I did not realize that the company is based in my country of birth so that was interesting to see her visit the headquarters. Good stuff.

How'd you come to be born there; military brat?

Interesting video this morning. I swear that this woman has no fear of the unknown. She really embraces life as she finds it, and she sure finds some beautiful locations.

My sister and brother in law were going to retire to Ecuador until my mom started getting worse and she became my mom's full time caretaker. I sent her a link to the first Ecuador video and she seemed to like it.

Just started watching her stuff and following along recently, great channel and I really enjoy her attitude towards world travel.

Im from Ecuador and have visited most of the places she highlights. Great stuff. I wouldn't stay in some of those places. She is a tough cookie.
Loving her Ecuador coverage.
Freedom Ecuador motorcycle rental is a great resource if you want a great trip. From a day trip to a 2 week stay.

I think absolute naivety results in some of the places she elects to stay. It's easy to be unaware of just how bad an area might be if the typical signs aren't obvious and if you aren't in tune with the local culture and politics.

I'm not too sure about that. She was aware of the dangers in certain areas and spoke of them before she ever met the woman at the church who warned her about those areas. She stays pretty tuned in on what's happening both politically and criminally. She had to skirt some major protests in some of her previous countries in S America.

Understanding broad generalities in a given area doesn't account for total situational awareness. Gut instinct certainly factors but some have more of it than others. Avoiding those protests because the area was cordoned off isn't exactly rocket science. I'm not saying that she is bad at it, but she isn't above missing cues either. I follow a lot of international travelers like herself, some of which who made their private careers in fields where this type of awareness was key to their everyday success and survival and even they get it wrong at times.

I've watched a couple of these worldwide travelers. It seems a recurring theme that they move continuously and are not observed too long by the bad folks (thus avoiding trouble).

Well....that was interesting. Think I'd just have to ride till I found a bridge. There's probably one a few miles away....🤪🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

If you can go back and watch her first attempt at South America there's a few good episodes there regarding her attitude. The most memorable was the one where she lost her license plate. What a pain and expense to get one sent to her from the Netherlands. She shrugged her shoulders and said "We have problems, we fix them" and she made a homemade license plate, then planned her route so she could pay the expedited shipping which took over a week to be shipped to an intercept point on her path.

I don't think she's nearly as naive as you'd be led to believe. It is pretty well known that these motorcycle vloggers are all talking and passing information around. She was definitely in contact with folks when she was planning her Africa tour. They pass their intel around the community about what borders are closed, places to visit and areas to avoid. She certainly doesn't just stumble accidentally on these gems of roads and views and things to see.

We missed out over the holidays being out of town so we finally got caught up last night and now there's already a new epsiode. Looking forward to watching it tonight.
