Post your Day Rides Here!

I would be curious how it compares to the Yamaha NIKEN. I have not heard much since their initial product launch.
The Niken is a whole other thing. I did a trackday last fall I think it was and there was 65+ year old man on a Niken out there.

At first glance I thought I'd be passing him all day. I was wrong. The rider was fast and the bike was really capable. Side note, I love that about track days. In the parking lot, everyone looks one way, but on the track, everything is revealed and you learn looks can be deceiving.

Anyway, I got behind the Niken and was surprised to find we were evenly matched. I chased him for 3-4 laps before I made it by him. He was scraping pegs in every corner.

Finally, I got by him and after a couple of more laps, I started fatiguing and bam, he passed me in a corner that I got lazy on. We ended up passing each other back and forth for several sessions. He was a good rider and the bike impressed me. I figured it was just another Spyder, but it is not.

I noticed he had traction in rough areas of the track. At lunch, I found him and talked to him and he said he was really enjoying the bike out there because he didn't have to worry about the front end at all. He said the bike never chased a seam or got weird in a bumpy spot. He said the second wheel would be on a different line and it would take up the slack. And I saw it, he was planted the whole time and the front wheels were working independently. The only thing holding him back was lean angle and horsepower. But even with my horsepower advantage, it wasn't like I was pulling him too much in the straights. At that point, I realized the Niken was no joke.

2 questions.
1- you down to 2 bikes in signature??
2-On the Niken, can you stop without putting a foot down?
well one more, if down to 2 bikes, what's next? lol

A guy put a deposit on the Speed Twin and is supposed to pick it up tomorrow.

I don't think the Niken stands up by itself. I think you have to do all the motorcycle stuff with it.

I might just be a two bike guy for a while...

I have a friend with a bad leg, if it stood up by itself would be nice. But he keeps going on what he has ok.

FWIW, the Piaggio MP3 with similar front wheel design does stand up, and, steering can be locked to remain standing with a parking brake set to keep it from rolling. It also has a center stand.

It would surprise me if they didn't take advantage of the trike stability that way on the Niken.

If ya pick the right ones.....two will do

Per @JMZ , “you need 3 bikes. One road, one dirt road, and one dirt.” took me a few tries to get to this, but I agree with him and now have all 3 bikes. (If you don’t count the “buddy” bike in my shed.)

What are your three now?

Rob, I'm glad you and your wife are doing better after Covid. :thumb:

My Sister and BIL have a Spyder and love it. They have owned 2 Goldwing trikes, 1 HD Dresser trike and a *** Boss Hoss trike. Boss Hoss was fine looking but always having problems with it and they lost a ton of money to get rid of it.

They said the Spyder is way more comfortable/easier for my sister to get on and off than the trikes, she has bad knees.

Another friend's wife had a Spyder also. He told me it would go around corners quickly, but better be holding on because it hugs the road. He is a very experienced motorcycle rider, many years of experience.

Yes, Spyders and trikes are different than motorcycles, they drive like 3 & 4 wheelers.

I'm sure the Yamaha Niken is awesome bike also.

I don't think that I would buy either if I needed to get off 2 wheelers, I would just buy a Jeep.

ktm 1090R, which could be a dirt road bike, husky 701, which could be a road bike, (or dirt bike if ridden by someone besides me), and a husky 350fx which could be turned in to a dirt rode bike with a light kit.
Put it in a signature

You never know who he will identify as now 😁

An early ride on the little ct90 today to beat the heat. Long shadows. The pic is where Barnes Bridge road in Garland intersects w (west side) Lake Ray Hubbard. The city has closed the park that we all used and is going to sell it to developers. The CT is pointed at a mostly abandoned power plant. We used to eat, explore, and fish at the park. No mas!

I got a chance to take the new to me CB on a decent little 100ish mile ride around the Lake Whitney area today. The illegitimate child handled just about everything I could throw at it and then some. She didn't even complain (much) when she took flight off a terrace.

Let's go ride some dirt around Whitney sometime. I'd like to explore that area some more.

Sure... I'm very familiar with the area. I've ridden almost every single road in that area at some point or another. The best one (if you like mud) is closed now though.

Met a buddy in Wimberly for a hill country tour. Took the scenic routes through Waring, Comfort, working our way to Fredericksburg for lunch. The heat was crazy but lotsa water in the camelbacks kept us going. Found the abandoned train tressel near Kiel park. Tried to make a little lunch $ but it didn’t go so well.

My day started off great with a nice ride on the ol' Beemer.

Now I'm just sitting Home Depot waiting on a trailer. I came so close to tossing a spare tube in my panniers. Wish I had becuase plugs fall right out of this hole.
