The Niken is a whole other thing. I did a trackday last fall I think it was and there was 65+ year old man on a Niken out there.I would be curious how it compares to the Yamaha NIKEN. I have not heard much since their initial product launch.
At first glance I thought I'd be passing him all day. I was wrong. The rider was fast and the bike was really capable. Side note, I love that about track days. In the parking lot, everyone looks one way, but on the track, everything is revealed and you learn looks can be deceiving.
Anyway, I got behind the Niken and was surprised to find we were evenly matched. I chased him for 3-4 laps before I made it by him. He was scraping pegs in every corner.
Finally, I got by him and after a couple of more laps, I started fatiguing and bam, he passed me in a corner that I got lazy on. We ended up passing each other back and forth for several sessions. He was a good rider and the bike impressed me. I figured it was just another Spyder, but it is not.
I noticed he had traction in rough areas of the track. At lunch, I found him and talked to him and he said he was really enjoying the bike out there because he didn't have to worry about the front end at all. He said the bike never chased a seam or got weird in a bumpy spot. He said the second wheel would be on a different line and it would take up the slack. And I saw it, he was planted the whole time and the front wheels were working independently. The only thing holding him back was lean angle and horsepower. But even with my horsepower advantage, it wasn't like I was pulling him too much in the straights. At that point, I realized the Niken was no joke.
