The 2007 Suzuki Bandit 1250S -The Mega Thread

I put 600+ miles on the Bandit over the last 4 days. It seems like the limiting factor in my rides comes down to the stock seat. I got the sheepskin cover and that helped a lot but still gets tough to ride more than an hour and a half at a time. Guess it's time to invest in a better seat. I have only heard of 2 options. Sargeant and Corbin. Does anyone else make a seat for 2007 Bandits?

A Suzuki GSX650F seat is a straight swap - I think it has a more comfortable shape than the standard 1250 seat. It's also lower if that makes a difference. I'm in the UK so I don't know if you have the same 650 model numbers as us ... see below for a photo of the GSX650F

Just finished adding Buell footpegs to the Bandit tonight. Pretty straight forward with no mods to the factory parts. Only some grinding on the Buell pegs and some custom spacers from MM. I'm gonna need to make some adjustments to the clutch but I think the brake will be fine where it is. The stock footpegs can be put back on in 5 minutes or less.

Nice! Any reason you didn't just flip the stockers aside from them being fugly!? ;) I'm still on the fence but I do want to drop my pegs at least some for more comfort! :)

Looking to figure out a new handlebar set-up.
Has anyone tried the Powermadd product?

here is the link

Looks like it would raise and bring bars back.

Just what is needed. IMHO

Walter

If you go 2" , you're gonna need to reroute wiring, clutch and brake lines. Most probably will have to change out the brake line. At 3", I don't know. ;-)

Yep, gonna have to adjust the shifter down a bit. It's kinda awkward gearing down. I need to find a die set and cut some more threads on the shifter rod. The brake is ok where it's at but I might adjust it a little bit later on.

Happy Halloween fellas. I finally got to go for a ride this year last week. It was only 250 miles but it wore me out!

Sheesh guy, I only did about 110 miles from 4PM to 6PM. Still testing that Sargent seat. Was starting to hurt the tailbone just a touch today. Just the way I sit I guess. I'll put the Corbin with near 60,000 miles on it back on tomorrow and check the difference while it still fresh on my hiney memory. :lol2:

I've found that the Sargents I've purchased in the past have a break-in period that you just have to put up with for a while. Give it a chance.

The Sargent's break-in period on my Bandit wasn't too bad but that was not the case on a VFR I once owned. For the first several rides I used it, I thought I'd made a very expensive mistake! I thought I'd traded one torture device for another. Then on one ride it occurred to me that my rear wasn't aching anymore and I'd done about 250 miles. From that point on, I could do 500 mile days just fine.

I only have about 350 miles on it at present. I have to admit, the bit of cushion with the foam is better over the sharp bumps than that hard Corbin. LOL. I'll give it about another 500 miles to see if it gets better.

Hey guys, quick question. Is it OK/safe to ride without the big plastic cover that goes over the shifter linkage?

I left mine off for two weeks when I had reversed my pegs and cut my shift lever. Was doing adjustments on the road getting the shift lever where it was comfortable. No problems.

I'm moving on to my next Bandit project now. Repairing the cracked/broken fairing from the PO. I've read that you can use acetone to make repairs in ABS plastic. Anyone know if our fairings are made out of ABS plastic or are they some other type of polymer?

IN looking back , the PO had about 5K miles on the seat. I've got about 350 or so on it. My bike is set up for the lower Corbin > Handlebars, windshield. To keep running the Sargent over the Corbin, I'd really need to redo this set up at lots of expense. The only place that I see the Sargent is better than my old corbin is it's softer over the many sharp bumps we have on the back roads down here. When I went for a ride a few days ago with the Corbin on, everything was back to feeling so natural for me and being more out of the wind helmet wise.
What's really sad is I did near the same route on my old '00 KLR yesterday at near the same speeds ( 50 to 60 mph on the beat up black top ) and it was so much better for my body comfort on the same roads. Plus any gravel roads I wanted to see what was down there. Bandit will do gravel , but really doesn't like it. The KLR with the Kenda 270s just don't care. :rider:

Does it when it has to.

Loves it ! '-)

On other bikes I just bondo/epoxy both sides.

On a side note: I just bought a set of Tourmaster pants since I'm so happy with my jacket.....:rider:

Well, did about 500 miles on the Sargent Seat I had purchased awhile back. Ended up getting a new Alaskan Buttpad for the Corbin and gonna keep that. I guess 65,000 miles on the Corbin ,and, with present set up on handlebars and windshield have me spoiled and it would cost me near 400 bucks to redo set up for the Sargent. Though I did like the extra cush of it of the Sargent. So, it's in the for sale section now.

Well dang, sorry the seat didn't work out for you. It's hard to change anything after you've done so much to get it just right with a previous setup chasing what might (or might not) be a little better.

Heck guy, just had to give it a try. Maybe if it would of been the low Sargent , it would of worked out better. I plan on keeping the Bandit till 100K miles , then if still can ride, sell it and the KLR and get a newer 650 single with injection.

I didn't concern myself torqueing down to specs. Just so they be in the ball park. Got them even standing up where I could reach both and loosed just the fronts to where I could move the bars where I wanted them and aline them. Tighten things back up. I think those size bolts call for about 20 ft lbs max. Not sure on that though. So, that's not very tight.
Any how, my two inch Rox set up has been on for about 20,000 miles now and on some pretty beat up roads with me standing on the pegs with nada problems.

Hi Everyone,

It's been a long time since I've been on here. Sold my '07 bandit a few years ago and took some time off street bikes, home obligations, I'm sure you all understand. Now I'm looking to sell my CBR600 and get back on another Bandit, or whatever it is they call them now.

Looking at the current model, the bodywork and dash are very different from what I had.

Can someone let me know if there is still a fuel guage? I'm so tired of having to reset the trip meter on the CBR. It's the little things that get under your skin!
