What Happened in Pee Paw's Scooter Shop Today?

P.S. If you haven't seen me in a while, there is not as much to see. Yesterday I weighed in at 218. Headed for sub-200, lost almost 40 pounds so far. I am feeling good, glad I shifted to being healthy before I started working again. Don't know why we are rotating but here you go. I can't un-rotate it, so I gave up.

Blasphemy. I like riding the Beemer with a KTM helmet, it leaves folks conflicted.
From around 2016 until 2021, I worn a Harley labeled HJC. So, at a lot of stops in Austin/Colorado/Fayette/Waller/Bell county etc. There must have been a lot of conflicted persons wondering about the K1300s parked outside with a Harley logo helmet sitting on the pillion seat

I may have fixed it for you.

How did you do that James? You are my hero. It only rotates on TWT...must be magical. Or iPhone operation is harder than I thought.

I rode the 1290 Super Duke down FM51 yesterday and I still love it. It and the Beemer are just amazing on a twisty road. So, I guess I am keeping both, despite my first impressions of the beemer. I rode it to lunch, the beemer, and I still am amazed how well it does everything only different. She is a keeper (for now). If it gets warm enough today I will try a quick zip on FM51 with the SV650S. Should be fun.

We were pretty amazed, we stopped and looked at it like it was weird. I tried to ride the Super Duke 1290 r Evo to work Thursday and the battery was dead, so I rode the 990. I think the SDR might be upset with the beemer purchase. A couple of days on the tender cleared up the battery issue. I rode the SV650S yesterday as I registered it and title transferred her. So now I own and SV650S officially. I also discovered that the Vortex rearsets I installed are a bit high. I have ordered stock pegs, levers and assorted parts so I can lower them SV650S pegs are sort of high anyway, but I overdid it. The little SV runs well, handles well and was as I remembered her to be. I enjoyed the ride, even got to light up the rear when I hit a little light rain going through the "Mean Street of Nemo". She looks good, I still have a double bubble shield coming and like I said I plan to swap the pegs and fix the exhaust mount to not have a buddy peg on it.

You mean we went through all of that work for nothing? Well not nothing, I got to hand with the master.

It's never for nothing, we were entertained, I had fun, you had fun, I can ride the bike now. I just need to modify it back to stock. Much easier than what we did, sir.

Well, the SV650S keeps crying for minor maintenance. I pulled off the sprocket cover to clean it out and found the washer for the sprocket nut was destroyed, so I ordered a new sprocket nut and washer, also a set of seals for the side since I am popping off the nut, might as well put new seals in...or not, it will be a game time decision when I do. I got the stock right side footrest installed this morning and it is an inch lower, so should solve my issue with the Vortex pegs. Sad I bought those and not stockers. Waiting for the left and some parts from Suzuki later in the month.

I also chopped off the buddy peg on the right side to make a custom exhaust hanger.

How did the splines look where that destroyed washer sat?

So, went on a slacker ride yesterday, actually off from work, so I really slacked! Diana, my daughter left Corsicana around 0730 and came over. She was a little cold when she got here, so I fired up the propane heater on the porch and poured hot black coffee into her.

We got all warmed up, then got ready to go, always need a start of ride selfie to kick things off.

So we met up at the Bluffdale Country Club (BDCC) and got gassed, coffee-ed up and ready to ride.

Off we went, Diana had never done a low water crossing, much less one in mud, so she got to do three on the ride, got the SDR dirty and the Beemer too, but it was fun watching us shift to rain mode on our sporty bikes so we could steer and stuff without wheel spin, good idea I'd say...

We got down to the Horny Toad and I had a flat, but didn't find out until after lunch. Then the whole of the TWT community on the ride stepped up and helped us out. I posted that in the Slacker ride report, so you can see it there. Here are the relevant pics...

So, before we left, Norton John (Zonie) said he wanted to stop by to bleed the rear brake on his Royal Enfield. So, we went back to PPSS and also Craig came with us to provide oversight, moral support and while we were at it, we did his rear brake as well. Unfortunately we only batted .500 as John's brake just wouldn't pump up. Craig's brake, however, became the Beta Test for my new GS-911 gizmo. We did the brake bleeding cycle for the rear and we finally got it to work right. Also, the Mustang's battery was low and we couldn't start it, then we got Diana inside it to put it in Neutral and we pushed it back and forth to get room for bike maintenance. The battery charged right up on the tender, I will monitor it for a while.

I believe Craig also supplied the only full head of hair, besides Diana, of course...LOL

And, of course, thanks again to RZ500rich for providing the tools and the 135mph tire plug, I will return your dykes, sir.

So I put the new washer and nut on the SV650S and used the Diana method to hold the rear wheel. Torqued to 105 ft-lbs. Put the side cover on and the clutch back together. Waiting on the rest of the left footrest so we can be back on the road. Looking forward to putting some miles on her.

Thanks to onewolf (James!) I think I fixed the pic issue.

If you scroll to the bottom of the post there is a "rotate" choice and that will fix you up, sir. Onewolf told me about it.
