What Happened in Pee Paw's Scooter Shop Today?

I remember being in that simulator room many years ago with you and several others from the old TSBA days. It was a cool visit.

Wow, how about a flashback! I hadn't thought about the TSBA in years. I remember that it was a fun tour, I believe we fired up the simulator and demoed some stuff. I was at it last night too, probably one of the coolest computer games ever. It is amazing how well it simulates the actual operation of the plant. Wonderful machines.

I had trouble getting the no-mar to grip, so I punted and used the RC-100 Coats and all is well. We did use the no-mar balancer to good affect however. All in it was an easy one. I just need to play with the no-mar a bit more to get better with it.

On my No-Mar, I have not been successful getting the "cam blocks" to hold when changing tires (albeit I've only done my R1200GSA and FLHP tires so far.)

On my FLHP, I had better luck with the Posi-Clamps (https://www.nomartirechanger.com/ac-posiclamps.html). Even with those clamps really tight, I had to use a strap on rear wheel to keep it from turning

For the R1200, I did not have a posi-clamp spool big enough to hold wide rim flange. I used the "cam blocks" and just spooned tire on and off.

Mine unit came used with some BEAD DEPRESSOR BLOCKS and a set of BEAD DEPRESSOR CLAMPS that I find are real handy for holding the tire in the drop center

It worked great on the RC-100, I had her in the drop center, but she still turned. I am sure I am not doing it right, I will try the posi-clamps next go round.

Not to belabor a point, but I got very little comment on the SV650S picture I posted. I believe I should get her soon and will be back to 8 motor-sickles in the scooter shop. I had purchased it several years back and did a lot of mods. Then I sold it back to the original owner, who said he wanted it pretty badly for a profit (Note: Pee Paw very rarely makes a profit on a motorcycle sale, it is not in the business model for old bike flipping it seems) and now has been offered to me for a "pittance". So, the original guy sold it to an "intermediate owner, whom I know" and he offered it to me. She is probably in the 35+k miles range now and looks to be ok. He said he put a combo signal/tail light on her and flush mount front blinkers as well. So, a little to undo, and probably will need valve clearance checks and such. Looking forward to having a successful old bike acquisition after my recent debacle with the W. Anyway, looking forward to playing with the S at PPSS. Plus, Jasen will like that it is yellow.

With stubborn tires I do have to run a strap around the wheel and the NoMar from time to time. The non marring holders don't grip as well sometimes.

I always used a strap when I had my old harbor freight changer so when I used the nomar recently just grabbed a strap and did not think about it. I don't like cranking down real hard on the wheel and the strap is easy and effective.

Guessing it is like being behind the times (or cheap)... I normally go down to the local mom&pop mc shop drop a few bucks and walk away happy...

They have gone nuts on the pricing, and I need the exercise.

There are no more "mom and pop", not around here...

I go to Benz 'n Bikes (never seen a Benz there) that's the shop that was Ironhorse Choppers on 281. Chuck and his wife run a very busy shop, and while not cheap, they are reasonable and good people, and not part of a dealership owned by a chain of car lots. I've never had a bad experience with Cycle Gear, but they're too far away. Sitting by. :-P

No mom and pop shops around here. My last paid tire changes were at Cycle Gear. I arranged to meet a friend for lunch and scheduled to drop them off and have them done at lunchtime. Cycle Gear wasn't near where I lived or worked. Dropped them off and was told they'd be done when I got back. Came back and found my wheels sitting right where I left them with the old tires on them. Was told that the tire guy didn't come in till 3. It was out of my way but they agreed to have them done by the time I came back from work. Stopped by on my way home and the wheels with old tires hadn't moved. Manager apologized and told he he'd get them done "Real Quick." Real quick would have been during lunch pal. I went home and ordered an HF changer and later upgraded to the NoMar.

For what shops charge to change tires, even off the bike, I'm way ahead on cheapness. I'm so much further ahead not paying brick and mortar tire prices too. I can swap tires quicker than a round trip to the nearest shop pretty much. Just more sweat usually because they always seem to need changing in July. At least it makes the tires softer.
