Honda Transalp 750

That's a good price. It's making me think....
Yes, nice price. Has nice display and goodies.
Thinking +,- $11,262.50 out the door if you can get it for $10K w/o options. Oops, forgot the dam license tag.

Also, might as well pick one of these up while your at the Honda store. Just dropped north am.. $28.9k CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP, the more R's the mobetta.

Those crates are light years ahead of the flimsy ones in the 80s. My very first job was final assemble and functional testing of bikes and 3 wheelers for Beckley Honda in West Virginia. There would always be some scuffing of panels and occasionally a scuffed up muffler from the flexxy shipping crates.

I think both bikes look real good. That 500X would make a very sensible commuter. In fact, I like it much better than the new TransAlp. I didn't even care for the one from 30 years ago, enough that I kept my 1985 XL600R for the same duty. I'm sure the new one will appeal to somebody, most likely those that remember the old one and for that reason alone. Minus the nostalgia, I don't know if the new one really measures up to today's expectations.

They look like the same wheel sizes as the Africa Twin. I wonder if they're the same wheels? They look similar and the fork bottoms look similar too.

We are supposed to ohh and ahh the bikes but I too was looking at the shipping container and wondered if they are broke down and reshipped to Japan? Probably not.

I wouldn't mind having one of those crates to adapt for use in the truck or trailer. I especially like how the CB500X fits in there without having to remove the front wheel.

The comments above are very impressed with the crate LOL.

Dealer yesterday told me the reason for the lack of a 23 Africa Twin, was Honda used the DCT chips for the Rebel 1100. Honda can't make enough of the Rebel 1100 DCT. I guess there is still somewhat of a chip shortage. He also said the Honda President, during his visit to the dealership, just smiled when the dealer asked about changes to the Africa Twin. They are supposed to have some big meeting in a few weeks.

He also said they do not plan to initially offer the DCT in the transalp.

Kevin, any insights into providing a DCT (or otherwise clutchless) smaller displacement bikes, say in the 300-500cc range?

I haven’t heard anything about the smaller bikes. I think it would just be too bulky and complex on a smaller bike.

I think recluse has the smaller bike market wrapped up.

The smile, meaning 750 Honda hornet in an Africa Twin 🤔. Wonder if they would dare do that and risk sales gut.

There is one at Eastside Honda RN. Just waiting for a buyer. I looked around it and sat on it. Fit and finish is nice. It's a spartan bike without too much going on. The riding position felt well, and standing on it was comfortable. The seat was surprisingly VERY comfortable.

I think it looks good for what it is. It's a Honda. Fit and finish are always excellent IMO.

But the seat... Is it just me? But being trapped in a scooped out pocket where you can't move around just doesn't seem appealing. Instead of sitting inside the bike, I want to sit on top of this. I think I'd want a flatter seat from front to back, like a dirt bike. Just take the height at the rear and continue to the tank at that seat height.

IMO if you want a dirt bike, buy a dirt bike. This thing is what it is, a semi light tourer that CAN go offroad. Nothing more. Again, IMO.

I think it will sell well for those that want comfort while cruising and occasionally will go offroad to enjoy a bit of gravel.

If not not for the tubed tires, I could see this filling the role of my CB500X
tubed tires? that's a huge marketing blunder for a bike they assume would see adv touring miles. Anyone here ever changed a tube out of town in the last 10 years or on one of the big bikes like an Africa Twin? What a shame.

So my friend did a thing. It's a nice looking bike. I'll be keeping my Twin.

It has a surprising number of parts in common with my Africa Twin, including the wheels.

I dunno maybe that’s an okay price, who knows…. In this clown world we are in with stupidly high prices on just about everything, I’m still trying to dial in my financial compass. Three, maybe four years ago I would have something solid for comparison. Today, not so much.
