New Africa Twin debut?

The article suggests 5'6" Marc Marquez had no problem with the bike... right under this pic. Never mind they are both standing at the crest of a hill, with F&R wheels below the crown a few inches lower.

That said, if that 32.3" low seat setting holds true, then that's great news for us short-legged.

Man, that was some gnarly dirt road off road! Other than the sweet jumps, I would have taken a Harley on all of that.

Did anyone else notice how they conveniently did not show the actual bikes when they landed from their airborne adventures? That isn't by accident.....

Oops, wrong thread! LOL

Harley on dirt? No way! (Don't tell Road Thing I said that. He rides so much gravel on his HD he replaced the belt with a chain.)

Check out the Marquez video It shows a couple of landings. Not much to them.

If you are talking about the video posted above, that is what I was referring to. The only landing they show was a very tame downhill one, that quickly jumped frame. There was one that only shows the back wheel, and the large jump quickly jumps to a closeup of the rider, and then back to the bike, afterwards.

When you get 500+lbs going through the air on basically long travel street suspension, it ain't going to look pretty when it comes back to Earth. And the video producers figured that out pretty quick.:lol2:

I'd almost buy it for that alone! I have a 29 inch. I can't flat foot with both. I do ok on the V-strom, but would love a something with a two piece seat that I could shave the foam on it and leave the back on one alone for my wife. It would have to do double duty of street bike and dirt road. That is about as rough as I want to get with anything much over 400 pounds.

that settles it...

its berry berry good

Very interesting.

I'm looking at the Africa Twin as a daily commuter. It's not really going to see much else other than pavement, but the broad seat and upright seating position are appealing.

Are you considering the DCT option?

No DTC for me, unless gridlock traffic and no lane-splitting is part of the daily grind. I loved commuting on my KLR, but it lacks EFI/mapping and the umph for my needs. Supporting the Military had me traveling all over Texas. I could find myself in El Paso and White Sands Missile Range, San Antonio, Austin, Killeen, and just across the border in Louisiana. The Africa Twin looks like it could be a machine that I can ride at a vigorous pace to get there, and then have the capability to ride on the unimproved roads. I've held off on purchasing such a machine because there is not a KTM or BMW dealership in close proximity to me. I like what Yamaha and Triumph has to offer, but I've been waiting for the Honda before making a final decision. I loved riding the original Africa Twin and Transalp.

I'm taking a bold leap and going for the DCT.

I would jump at the chance to ride the original African Twin and Transalp....

Definitely understand the "umph" needs. With speed limits as they are my KLR is getting one heck of a workout and I still have traffic piling up behind me.

Honda has patented the sound of the new Africa Twin just as Harley did. Hmmmm.... I wanna hear this!
