New Africa Twin debut?

Seriously, Harley "won in the court of public opinion?" Isn't that like when the Buffalo Bills claim just being in the Super Bowl was "a moral victory?" Both sound a lot like euphemisms for "Actually, we lost." :lol2:

Even a Harley doesn't sound like a Harley today. The twin cam has to idle at 1000 rpm to keep everything lubed at idle so no potato, potato any more.

Not yet. The closest is this... uploadfromtaptalk1446950171702.jpg

I wish!!!! I'm not expecting mine until early next year...the US isn't expecting to see them until then.

This bike landed in Italy from the story I read...

I saw that picture on Facebook, but there was no note on where it was!
I saw that pic in another forum and it was rumored that the bike was in Italy.

That is the only info I have. Suspect at best.

As I understand it, the Africa Twin exceeds the KTM 1190 Adventure in ground clearance

Again, how I understand it....it is the parallel twin that allows for the low seat height compared to the Vtwin.

It helps, with the parallel twin angled forward you clear up space to lower the seat.
My SV1k the front of the seat is just above the back cylinder and the tank hinges on the cam cover.

I agree as well, plus depending on how the crank timing is done; that parallel twin can deliver large thumper-like power but still have top end for freeway cruising. I really do hope that it will be something great, as it is long overdue for Honda to get into this game.

Also, didn't I hear somewhere that they were also bringing over the Cross Tourer? If they do, then this one pretty much has to be lighter and more off-pavement worthy so they don't just take away from their own market space. Or at least one would think.

The problem with most parallel twins is vibration. It's architecture makes it very hard to eliminate it, especially at the higher rpm.

It's certainly hard to figure out Honda for sure. They choose not to compete in the adventure bike market for years, then bring two similar, albeit different, bikes to the US market within a few months of each other.

Honda is almost begging people not to buy one until the other comes out so you can ride and see the differences between the two bikes.

There has been mention of two balancing shafts in the engine to address this.

Press release is coming up in a few weeks in South Africa. Looking forward to reading the reviews.

Think I read somewhere that it uses a 270° crank like the Tenere.
