New Africa Twin debut?

I'm considering having it painted. Shouldn't be too expensive considering the small surface area.

I am fixing to paint tank covers on V-strom with what's called Plasti dip Home Depot 6bucks can. You can peel it off later. Anyone tried it?

I've used it in some interior pieces on my Jeep. It's easy to apply, and there is no essentially no risk, since it does peel off as advertised.

It's big in the Jeep world. Folks do everything from the interior pieces like I did to wheels and grilles.

I don't know that it is something I'd want to use on a whole bike, though. Just rubbing against it from time to time will tear it every few months on the driver's side door of my Jeep. I'd imagine knees rubbing on a tank covered in the stuff would wear through it in no time.

If you want flat black google info on the stuff used for John Deere tractors. It is relatively inexpensive and surprising durable. It looks like a flat primer but is waterproof and tough like a top coat. I can't remember the exact maker and name and color code, but google knows. You can order the same paint from an auto parts store for half the price John Deere charges.

Valspar makes it, calls it John Deere Blitz Black. Nice that the old bramaged dain is showing some evidence of working again after the wreck last summer.

That's the second review I've read that raved about the DCT in off-road situations. I've never ridden a DCT bike, and I don't want to. I'm sure it's great, but it's one of those things that I've lived without my whole life. If I try it, I may get hooked on it.

I'm sure somebody said that about motorcycles at some time in the past. Same with sliced bread. The world just keeps spinning and newness abounds.

Just from reading about DCT I'm almost convinced they have done a fine job of writing the code. But, single speed electric bikes might make short work of it once the storage tech is developed. Kinda like the way DVDs displaced CDs, as CDs did tapes.

Oh, definitely. I wasn't trying to say anything negative about it at all. Just that if I don't try it, I won't know what I'm missing. Staying blissfully ignorant about it may save me some money.

What I wrote was meant to support what you wrote in the sense of this is simply how it goes with us humans.

In hindsight, I can sincerely say that I often reflect upon the bliss that I have lost along the way, and, I completely understand what you are saying.

Umm dvd's didn't displace cd's, mp3's did.
Dvd's displaced Chadians, and blue ray displaced dvd's and the next level is due.
The 4K-ray!

You know this was a test to see if you would make this keen distinction and demonstrate your in-depth understanding of the concept. :lol2:

Congratulations, you have scored well on the Essay portion. :trust: :-P

You may not have taken into consideration how, to someone working in IT, the reference made to these media may have been based upon their data storage capacity, which is inclusive of the audio and video realms, as your example illustrated so well.

Back to topic, does anyone think there will be an 8-Track Player option on the AT? :rider:

Nice testimonial...

+ engine
+ easy to ride
+ more dirt oriented

- seat to hard for me
- windscreen to small

So let me get this straight. For a year, and 29 pages, we've been beating up on a bike we've never even seen, and writing it off before it's been ridden. And now, as it begins to appear, everybody who rides it, whether media or actual owner, loves it. Hmm, maybe there's an application in there somewhere....... :ponder:

There very well could be. This would be a first for Honda in well over 10 years if you ask me. My negative talk of Honda all stems from the Rune, Fury, DN-01, FB-06, CTX1300, and the NM4; while Honda owners everywhere else around the world are treated to some of the best bikes choices of motorcycles made today.

So for me, Honda is in the same boat as that crazy uncle you hang out with a Christmas. He's been crazy for the past 10 years, and will most likely be a nut this year too, but he just might surprise you. Doubtful, but it could happen.

My fingers are crossed that Honda surprises us all, and I truly hope they do. I know that the CrossTourer rides like a dream, so as long as they don't trump BMW in price they will probably have a winner. I hope they do the same with the Africa Twin as well.

Bill, I have high hopes for the AT. In the meantime, I turned the lights off at my place last night, and left a note on the door for my crazy uncle telling him we're all meeting at your place for a week's stay. Don't worry, he doesn't eat much. Just keep a few vats of Gallo on hand and he'll be fine. :lol2:
